Looks like Crytek's planning to pull a nanomechanically-engineered hat trick with its multiplayer demo for Crysis 2 -- it's out already on 360, it's coming to PC on March 1, and according to the game's latest official trailer (posted after the jump), the demo is "coming soon" to the PS3 as well.
We've contacted EA to get a more specific timeframe for the demo's arrival. For now, check out the video after the jump to see exactly how the game looks on Sony's home console. Actually, you could just go read the back-and-forth in these YouTube comments between PS3 and 360 fanboys -- it's just as entertaining as the trailer itself.
The comments found in that link were really bizarre. They all claimed that the video "looked like ass," and then compared Crysis 2 to God of War III and Uncharted 2.
It's like seeing the trailer for the new Batman movie, and lamenting the fact that it doesn't look as good as Avatar. Senseless comparisons of totally different products made under totally different circumstances with totally different intentions.
From what I saw, Crysis 2 on PS3 looked quite snazzy, technologically-speaking. I have no frame of reference (I haven't seen the PC or 360 versions in motion), but it seems crazy to look at that video and make hyperbolic claims like "loks lik Dreem kast grfix!!!!!!!!!11111!! Killz0ne 3 is the sh1t!!@!!!!!!"
Most comments like that are made by kids who are butthurt because they can't afford (and/or parents won't buy them) every console and good game that comes out. They buy/preorder one or two games, and that's all they can buy for a while, so they desperately try to make themselves feel better by claiming that the games they got were the best ones out there.
There are also fanboys who refuse to see any game outside of their own little bubble as a good product, and will try to justify that as much as they can.
Really, it's quite sad. There are amazing games for all consoles AND the PC. Sure it's fun to tease a certain franchise or console from time to time, but in the end, everything has it's strong and weak points.
On topic, I'm glad a MP demo is coming out for the PS3, as I don't own a 360 but would really like to try this game out.
Very exciting news for me. I only got to play the original Crysis at Medium settings on my PC, and while playing on a PS3 will never compare to playing on Ultra High Settings on PC, for $60 I can't complain about what it looks like. Especially from a streaming youtube video. Stoked! =)
Yeah, what the hell was the deal with that? I tried playing it a few weeks ago and it didn't work at all. I'm not going to bother trying again when March is so close.
Will the demo actually work for consoles connected to the internet wirelessly? They were supposed to fix the 360 demo but I still haven't been able to play it without it locking up my system, if it works this time then I'll get the ps3 demo.
I'm getting this day one for sure. The demo on Xbox blew me away. I think I'll be getting the PS3 version because I have friends on there waiting to get it. Its a shame that console versions are identical, I remember reading PS3 was using all its power a year ago but now they're identical. Awesome whichever way you play it though.
You can simulate the experience of playing this game by playing one of the eighty billion trillion other Call of Duty clones currently on the market while saying "maximum armor" in a gruff voice every few minutes.
