For the love of Blue Berry Muffin Tops, nooo! I hate Gamespys multiplayer, it's lead to more robotic then anything.

@Vaancor Agreed. GameSpy sucks. It makes me cringe when I see it's splash screen come up at the start of otherwise good games.

You guys are missing the point. The real win here is that indie devs can more easily implement multiplayer without having to pay extra to get the license to use said technology

Everyone's complaining but all this really means is that we'll get more diverse games coming from the independent studios.

This and the Unreal 3 announcement means you'll probably be seeing more small-team developed titles running with great visuals (Unreal 3) and have mutliplayer components (gamespy)

How is this not a win for everyone, even if gamespy's platform is less than ideal. The point is that they are giving it away FOR BASICALLY FREE.

Also Red Dead multiplayer works fine, so it's obviously not THAT broken.

I remember GameSpy from ten years ago when I was playing Medal of Honor. I remember not really enjoying it at first, but once I understood how to worked, I did like it. Made it simple to play matches with my friend.

Agreed, GameSpy is horrible (at least on the PC side). On the PC side I've never had any problems with multiplayer via Steam (using Steam's online server api, not just a Steam game). Never played any Games for Windows titles online (just local), so can't comment on them.

PC Gaming really needs to let go of GameSpy and PunkBuster, there are much better alternatives.

I didnt knew at all that Red Dead Redemption uses GameSpy tech to power its MP aspect.

I find the MP in RDR just GOOD. Not too sucky but not too awesome neither. Its sometimes laggy, but I hardly experienced disconnections.

So I think that is not as bad as people say.

Every time I see that Gamespy logo come across the screen of a new game I play I tend to get sad and worry.

Holy crap, I didn't even know Gamespy was still around.

I know for the PC, the more popular choice nowadays is with Steam granting games Steam Cloud, and achievements, something that Relic has taken on with DoW Retribution, were their prior 2 games were using GFWL.

But I wasn't even aware that some console games even used Gamespy.
