Crysis 2 multiplayer demo comes back to Xbox 360 on March 1

We already knew the Crysis 2 demo was destined for the PC on March 1 (and the PS3 sometime "soon"), but EA confirms today that it'll also be returning to the Xbox 360. The multiplayer demo, for those who didn't get a chance to try it out on the Xbox 360, features two maps and two different game modes: "Pier 17" and "Skyline" are a dilapidated dock and series of NYC rooftops, respectively, while Team Instant Action is your standard team deathmatch variant and Team Crash Site is an objective-based mode where players must find and capture designated areas for points.

Additionally, EA reveals that the initial Xbox-exclusive demo was downloaded over 1.7 million times. For a new trailer and the full press release, hit stealth mode and sneak on past the break.

CRYSIS 2 MULTIPLAYER DEMO GOES MULTIPLATFORM ON MARCH 1

New Xbox 360 and PC Demo Hits on March 1; PlayStation 3 Demo Coming Soon

With only a month to go before the release of Crysis 2 – one of the most hotly anticipated games of 2011, EA and Crytek are pleased to confirm that a new Crysis 2 multiplayer demo for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system and PC is coming March 1. The PlayStation®3 demo is coming soon. Crysis 2's dynamic multiplayer is built around the franchise's signature Nanosuit, an advanced exoskeleton giving every player super powers that will allow them to be strong, be invisible and be fast on the battlefield.

Last month over 1.7 million players downloaded an early multiplayer demo on Xbox 360. Since then, Crytek has taken player feedback to help improve the experience even more.

All versions of the new demo will include two maps, "Skyline" and "Pier 17", as well as two modes "Team Instant Action" and "Crash Site". Crysis 2 multiplayer will include six intense, action-fueled gameplay modes: Instant Action, Team Instant Action, Crash Site, Capture the Relay, Extraction and Assault, set across 12 maps in Crytek's visually stunning recreation of the Big Apple. Players will advance through a deep progression system of 50 levels, earning a variety of upgrades along the way for weaponry and the Nanosuit itself, rewarding long-term players with tactical advantages that increase their speed, strength and stealth abilities even more.

Critics have already provided high praise for Crysis 2 multiplayer, with Game Informer saying "Crytek's approach to using the Nanosuit in competitive play is brilliant" and Official Xbox Magazine reporting that "with it's amazing new battlesuit, Crysis 2 gives you the weapons and the will to take multiplayer to a whole new level."

Ha! I think I spent an hour on this game and only played one match. It's decent but i swear, it crashed on me 5 times at least.

dowloaded 1.7 million times but was anyone actually able to play with all the console freezing and EA's famous super-shitty servers?

I played it a little, but I wasn't really all that impressed.

If that screeshotn is from the console version it looks better than expected

glade to hear that because i never got to try it...hopefully some of the glitches are fixed

I thought it was somewhat fun the first time but would only be interested if it was tweaked some... otherwise... beta re-run.

I really wanted to like it but I was like, "oh, call of duty, but slower and clunky."

Apart from a crappy matchmaking experience, I thought it was "ok". Kill-streaks are pretty much identical to COD, except that you have to pick up tags from your kill. It was a well-conceived twist at least. I may get this, albeit after a price-drop...

I downloaded, took half an hour to hook up a game.. played 1 match, team won by 1 kill.. enjoyed it.. preordered it for the campaign

Dude, it was on Xbox a while back, and it was bad. The game is good - but the game kept crashing due to network issues. I can guarantee the only times I played was when I was the host.

It better work this time.

The funny thing is, some of the PS3 guys on here refer to timed exclusives as "the Xbros beta testing the game for us" to be honest, in this case - they're right.

You can tell the high detail draw distance is like 15m from the player.
That is the PS3 version though, not saying the Xbox version will be better / worse, but there may be a difference ingame.

For all I care, after playing Bulletstorm MP, Crysis 2 can fall over and die, slowly, with a couple flails attached to it.

Since when are demos some sort of exclusive thing. Anyone else think this is ass-backwards? EA is treating Demos like they are something they are not.

I loved the demo, when I could actually play. It would crash when I joined a match and I had to restart my xbox. Then it would crash again.. After about 3 crashes, it was fine, and then I played the demo ioth no problems for about 2-3 hours. And thoroughly enjoyed it.

The demo made my descision to preorder it. So I'm looking forward to the demo coming back so I can play a lil again before the retail release. As long as the demo doest have all the bugs and shit it did the first time that is

@BlackedOut The xbox demo was fugly. Textures were flat, lighting was crappy and the draw distance was also about 15 feet.

I really hope they PS3 version looks better since Cryteck said the Cry Engine 3 looks a bit better on the PS3 a while back. Either way the game looks terrible on consoles, even by console game standards.

It's too bad that the demo never worked for me because of Microsoft's shitty matchmaking that's plaguing a number of recent games with low available players.

MS doesn't do the matchmaking; that's up to the developers/producers.

Am i the only person who didn't have issues with the demo? I only played it for a few days after it came out though. Perhaps this happened after a while.

Anyway, what is this "comes back" business. Did they take it off the market place or something?

Crysis 1 was AWESOME! I loved it. I recently got a better PC and was able to replay Crysis with the graphics settings turned up a lot more and it STILL looks better than a lot of games out NOW! However, I was in the Crysis 2 Beta on 360 and was really disappointed. I hope it's much improved in the retail release.
