Plants vs. Zombots: a LittleBigPlanet 2 re-creation
35
Plants vs. Zombots might be the most faithful recreation of a game we've see in LittleBigPlanet 2 so far. The level, created by Foggles, replicates all the sunshine grabbing, sunflower planting and zombie shooting you'd expect from Plants vs. Zombies.

I've seen some impressive stuff in LBP2. That, right there, may top it all.

are you serious?!? this is just plain amazing, i can't even fathom the things you could do with this type tool (aka LBP)... you could easily bring this type of game to Jr. High schoolers to get them interest into game development.

i also wanna add how OCD i was with the placement of my plants, seriously i used to restart the whole level if my plants where not in a matching pattern. the first row top to bottom usually were sunflowers followed by a row of shooters and the third/fourth row a repeating pattern of corn shooters and whatever plant helped me defeat the level.
i only say this cause watching this video made me RAAGGEEE- well a little

@PR0F3TA Ha, I went to comment and saw you'd used the wording I was going to use. Well, at least part of the way.
"I can't even fathom" how you'd do something like this.

Very well done, except the whole ripping off of the PvZ art and music assets...

heres the thing with lbp2. its a decent enough game but why would i want to play this when PvZ has a ton of different ways (and some free) to play the real thing. its pointless to make this as its a shoddy copy of the original. none of the original well thought out levels get any recognition until maybe a GOTY edition comes out.

oh no a guys opinion is different than mine, he must not have played the game!
actually i do own it but am looking to sell it. hansel and gretelbot only got press because it was a collaboration between a ton of creators. the platforming itself was ok, but the side stages WERE HORRENDOUS. the snail racing thing? terrible. the time youre a squirrel and scale up that wall? insanely frustrating.
which brings me back to my point. lbp is a jack of all trades and a master of none. it tries too many things and doesnt get anything right but platforming and even then the levels are hit and miss. most levels in lbp2 are a "look at me and how i used this cool new useless object put in to justify the 2 at the end of LBP". it should have stayed just a platformer and improved on those aspects of it instead of trying to do every game and having it out as a clusterfuck 95% of the time.
why would i play a replication of the original donkey kong when i have a rom sitting on my computer thats 2 clicks away.

Yeah, but there is PvZ in LBP 2.
You cannot win against this argument.

cant compete with blind fanboyism. if you like playing shitty iterations of these real games (which you might even have on your ps3), then be my guest. i wont buy into the hype when the inevitable lbp3 comes out and the controls are still crappy and floaty and they try to do too many things.

How about making a video tutorial on how this level was made? :)
Posted: Feb 26th 2011 11:08PM (Unverified) said
@Mad It would go something like this: Step 1: make a 9x5 grid of patches of grass. Step 2: Make the rest of the damn level.

This is incredible, but at one point or another I think I can safely assume that someone somewhere along the line has infringed upon some copyright on something, somewhere.

I actually played Plants vs Zombots on LBP2 just yesterday and could not believe my eyes that something like this is possible to create using just the tools within LBP2. This game is amazing at all levels, the game is alot of fun and the tools are out of this world. I just cant get over the fact that something like this is possible.

This is definitely amazing but I just wish they'd improve the search filter. There are some amazing levels out there but often you can't sift through the trash to find them. I like the section that MM has put up though with their pics but I just wish they'd expand it more. Hell, I still haven't had a chance to play Hansel and Gretelbot yet. =O
