I just upgraded my Mortal Kombat preorder to the TE so I get the fighting stick, which I plan to use on MvC3! That game was obviously made to be used with a stick.

Sure, it's made to be used with a stick... but I don't think the MK stick is best for MvC, given the button layout.

Agreed. That button layout looks atrocious for MvC3.
I've never understand the unconventional Mortal Kombat layout, as it doesn't play nice with any other fighting game.

i wish there was a way to guarantee this thing was future proof for all microsoft consoles, ive been wanting to get one but i hate the idea of it becoming obsolete in a few years

It may just be me ... but I don't like how the buttons are placed on this one

I'm trying to switch from a pad to a fight stick on MvC 3....very challenging.

Would this work on PC like the official wired 360 controllers do?

It should. I have the SC3 version of the Fighting Stick EX (their lower-end stick), and it works fine.

I'll be getting the TE for MK too...exciting to know they'll release a different button layout for it for other fighting games.

I own the PS3 version of this stick and I enjoy it. I think I still like the Virtua Stick High Grade more, but this is still a nice stick.
For the record, I purchased mine new on Ebay for a little less than $70 at the time, so I would look there too if you want one of these.

For the six buttons you're actually gonna use (first 6 from the left) the layout fits mu hand pretty well. I thought that since the middle finger longer than the ring finger the layout made sense in a way...you don't have to tilt your hand sideways. Just my opinion.

Time to try to nag Amazon to pricematch. I just bought 2 of these the other day for $103 each from them.

That aside - these are great sticks.
The stick itself is a Sanwa JLF variant which uses microswitches instead of the PCB; the wires are soldered and glued to the tabs on them. The buttons are Hori knockoffs of Sanwa/Seimitsu but they all use QD's (quick disconnects) so switching out the buttons is real easy. Switching out the joystick isn't too bad, you just cut the wires at the solder joints, strip the ends of the wires, put QD's on them and then they work with any stick with microswitches (although mounting a Seimitsu LS32 requires the SS mounting plate).
I've been a Seimitsu fan since building my own 360 stick but after trying the Sanwa stick, I actually prefer it and have since left it in and just replaced the buttons with my Seimitsu PS-14-KN's.

Bleh, that triangle button layout :P
But at a price of $85 for a nice fightstick I'd wager it's worth getting used to! I'll stick to my madkatz TE though ;p

I got the Tekken Special Edition set with a Hori Stick...it sucked donkey balls...From my reading the Sanwa sticks are the ones you want. I'm somewhat leary of buying another Hori.
