We only hope that Ms. Splosion's library of pop culture quips and, um ... other quotes ("Do I look fat in this?"; "Who left the toilet seat up again?") is extremely expansive. Those sound bites, if repeated too frequently, could approach Gex 64-esque levels of abrasiveness.
Ms. Splosion Man gameplay footage & screens are awfully frantic

We'd be hard pressed to think of platforming more frantic and dynamic than Splosion Man's most difficult segments -- though, to be fair, we hadn't seen these Ms. Splosion Man screenshots and video (after the jump) until, like, two minutes ago. The followup looks even more hectic than the franchise's first, masculine installment, and here's the kicker: The trailer was clipped from the game's first level. We shudder to think what those later levels are going to look like.

Ah man.
Love her smoke clouds, the gameplay looks great, love to see the first boss back with a vengance, great platforming elements, and was that a CHUCK NORRIS SCIENTIST?
They got me with the first one, and it looks like i'm already sold on this one too.

I thought that the things that 'Splosion Man said were pretty funny, but I will not be able to play this one given the things she spits out. "Who left the toilet seat up again" and "Do I look fat in this?" ... How many times does she have to say that until I play the game on mute? Too bad her annoying voice drowns out the hilarious and chipper music. And that's all THE FIRST LEVEL! Looks like a pass for me, unfortunately and I loved the original.

I kinda agree. The charm of the original for me was that the character rarely made sense and seemed totally insane.

Seriously, she sounds like her lines were written by a 1990's stand-up comic. Splosion Man basically shouted funny gibberish, but if you saw this game first, you'd assume he spent the whole game yelling "I don't ask for directions!". The original was amazing fun, but this one might be best enjoyed on mute.

Yeah I don't really want to listen to a 17 year old valley girl through the entire game. Maybe they'll include and option to turn her quips off.

Looks tough. I guess another hardcore achievement is going to keep me from completing this game too? Blast holes.

I at first read "awfully frantic" as "frankly awful" and was concerned.
But now I'm back to excited.

Can we just call it Splosion Man 2 instead and bring back the original character?

Also, the clips shown in that video were nowhere near as frantic as the later levels of the original splosion man. I realize it was the first level and all but why say this video is even more frantic than the later levels of the original when it's no 1/100th as frantic?

Man, as much as I'm a fan of the original & looking forward to getting Ms.Splosion Man.....THAT VOICE.
Ever see one of those shows where there's this girl who's stuck-up & acts like she's better than everyone else, yet isn't smart? That's what I think of when I hear that voice. It makes me cringe at times
I'm fine w/ some of the things she says (I laughed at the "I must, I must, I must increase my bust" song reference), but I hope they do something about that voice.
Even if they don't, I'll still get the game & enjoy it.....just with the volume lowered at times.

Why are they making this instead of something new and cool that's not for kinect?

Wow. And I was planning on buying this. Glad I watched (well, listened to) that video. Maybe if there's a "Shut Ms. Splosion Man up" option. The music and sounds were one of the best parts of 'Splosion Man. I'd hate to have to keep the game on mute.

I read the comments before I watched the video and thought people were just being hard on the game but ohhhh man. What is up with her voice?! The whole appeal of a somewhat insane/unstable exploding character is gone. I wouldn't care if there was high pitched gibberish but "who left the toilet seat up?" Seriously!?
This was a day one for me but not if they stick with that voice.
I LOVED Splosion Man but if he kept saying cliché crap like "Sorry Dude!" or "My bad bro!" I wouldn't have finished the demo.

@pksynths You won't buy a game because of a voice? What a sad world that we live in. Also, the toilet seat joke was funny, because it's so typical. Ms. 'Splosion Man has so far been shown as a generic female version of 'Splosion Man, just like Ms. Pac Man.

I could be being biased because I did grow up during a time this voice was considered "trendy" and certain parts of California still sound like this. Makes me want to stab myself in the ears.
I wont buy this game because I like being immersed within a game world and it's characters. That includes music and voice acting.

This game looks incredible! twisted Pixel did a really good job of reinventing 'Splosion Man. Those rails and springs could create endless new possibilities.

I'm I the only one who absolutely loves her voice? I think that she's such a generic "woman" that it's funny.

No, no, no, no...
Part of 'Splosion Man's charm was his gleeful gibbering! Gleeful gibbering never gets old, while one-liners get old really, really fast. Please, Twisted Pixel, stop before it's too late!

Given this and Comic Jumper, I'm beginning to wonder if my amusement of the original 'Splosion Man was just a fluke and Twisted Pixel just aren't as funny as I originally thought.
Gameplay looks fun though, but wow. That voice. Those lines.

as everyone else said, voice acting/music is as much a make or break for a game as gameplay, graphics, etc. I don't know WHAT twisted pixel was thinking with that voice and the horrible, cliched things she says. i hope they're joking, but i have an awful feeling they're not.
Twisted Pixel, read these comments, and redo the voice acting and make it nonsensical like SM1. If not, make this SM2 and forget Ms. Splosion Man. I thorougly enjoyed SM1, but I definitely cannot sit through this game with that voice acting. Comic Jumper was hilarious and had amazing voices in that one. How did you go so wrong???

I have brought all of Twisted Pixel's games and got splosion man and comic jumper day one. Splosion man is easily in my top 3 top XBLA games, but the character is so annoying... I don't know if I could bare to play. Comic jumper was funny for the most part but there was a lot of hit and miss and this might just miss as well. I'm sure the gameplay is great, but for the most part its just gonna be more splosion man. Oh and for sure all the stuff in the video is not just the first level unless it is following a completely different level format.
Gunstringer looks pretty fun, but I don't have a kinect!
