Is there a list of their hotspots? Or better yet a map?

As much as I hate to look a gift horse in the mouth..My town gets shoddy AT&T coverage at best. You walk into any building, and GG half the time.

@Vocality
This has nothing to do with their cell service. This is a series of wi-fi hotspots sponsored by AT&T.

This announcement was made before sort-of, though on a lesser scale for DS. It was also primarily for McDonald restaurants.

I gotta say, it's pretty exciting. Not to stay connected on the road, but I'm really curious to see how spot pass will work and whether or not Street pass will become as big here as it did in Japan with Dragon quest's tag mode.

I just dunno if we'll all actually cradle around our 3DS' all the time on sleep mode to make the features work.. I will, though, and I'm much more excited for these features than I was before

Free wi-fi is free wi-fi. This will be great for people out and about that want to play online. I don't see how this could be a bad thing at all.

I met with a Nintendo rep in a UK Gamestation store yesterday, and he mentioned that for the spot/streetpass, Nintendo have worked a deal with BT Openzone so the 3DS will automatically connect to the Openzone hotspots, free of charge.

Just hearsay but interesting none-the-less.
