The customization in this game is awesome. But am I the only one who was a bit disappointed by the actual racing? It's not as fun as I was expecting.

@WiredKnight

I personally had lots of fun. This could be due to the fact that I completely skipped LittleBigPlanet, so the customization and stuff astounded me. Although, I loved the racing. Many hours of fun.

They really shouldn't have added the patch to make it easier, though. Put my blood, sweat and tears into the surprisingly hard campaign only to have my work mean nothing two weeks later with a bloody patch.

Gamers need to harden up and put more time into games instead of playing on easy and flying through it... Unless they're 5, in which case, patch away.

@WiredKnight For a long time we just used the standard cars+tracks, still had a blast. It's certainly different to Mario Kart and CTR, but it's an improvement in my opinion.

@WiredKnight
oh jesus god yes. I got obsessed with creating racers and karts, so thus I had to unlock every obtainable piece of material (that you didn't have to buy).

Not only is the steering a bit too tight, but I found myself flying off the track and not respawning way too often. But the challenges, aghhhhh! They are poorly explained to you how and where you have to do things. Most challenges require you to do things or race in a fashion that will leave it nearly impossible to finish first (which is a requirement for every challenge).

It's too bad that this game wasn't made by a more seasoned or trustworthy developer. All it needed was better balancing, and things to be explained better.

@Apsac D the game is actually for kids, if it's too hard, they will throw it to oblivion... I have done the same thing that you had, but i'm ok with it... noobs can have their glory on easy achievements...

@WiredKnight The loading times and the frequency of loading in and out of menus killed this game for me.. I don't know if they have fixed it, but it tainted the appeal for me and it now sits in the box of misfit games.

I think the racing itself is great. I have no issue with the controls, the sense of speed, or the actual racing. The AI gets pretty nasty if you are up front.

So, no, I wasn't disappointed by the by the actual racing.

@WiredKnight I must be a horrible MNR racer because even on "Casual" difficulty, I had tremendous trouble getting the Dominator trophy (all 1sts) and beating the Career mode. For me, the difference between "Casual" and "Expert" difficulty is the name.

I wish I didn't catch air and land outside the track so much. I wish there wasn't a load screen in between every menu. I wish people didn't insist on making tracks where you can't see what's coming up ahead of you until the last second. I wish all the racing gurus would leave the game alone for a few months so us horrendous people can win ranked XP series and land in the top 10% of the Hot Lap.

Even with all the intent dislike I have for certain aspects of MNR, as a whole product, it's fantastic. Even without the online aspect, you can still find endless hours of entertainment as you make your own mods, karts, and tracks to race with friends in splitscreen.

@Apsac D

The difficulty didn't bother me, it's just that the handling feels off somehow. I feel like it was actually a bit too loose, and the powerups and other elements were pretty generic.

I don't know, I guess since they had obviously put so much time and effort into the character, car, and track editors I wish they had given the core racing mechanics more attention.

@WiredKnight you can change your handling/drift and speed/acceleration settings; did you try fiddling around with that?

Us 360 gamers COULD have had a game like this to play but NOOOO, MS had to go and blow it by making it a Kinect title.

Core gamers be gettin' the shaft.

I still pop this one in about once a week to check out the top tracks. I love this game dearly but the loading times definitely hurt it's appeal to the impatient.

@Theneverendingsoda is "be gettin' the shaft" hot new lingo or are you using two accounts? Or did I just witness a time paradox?
