@R Planteer

No brainer. Sega should release one and two on next gen systems to gauge interest in the series and then make a decision whether to finance the 3rd game.

It'll need a lot of marketing as if it were a new IP if they want it to sell.

I wonder if the difference between his numbers and Sega's numbers are things like marketing, international distribution, etc. Not that it should amount to $23 million, but that's a huge discrepancy.

I am sure I speak for the VAST majority of gamers when I say... who cares. Yes, there will be a small minority who will be exicited, and good for you. I hope you get the game YOU have in your mind. But they have already proven then cannot make a compelling, interesting game in this genre, even with an outrageous amount of resources as used in the 2nd one. The "fans" think they willg et the game they want, that they have built in their heads all these years, and will be most definitely disappointed in the eventual (if ever) delivered product.

Thread explosion? It makes sense, though, seeing as how Duke Nukem is finally coming out Shenmue 3 should be next, and then we might finally get a Final Fantasy 7 remake

@jblank Hold the phone, someone tell Yu Suzuki a bunch of Call of Duty players on the 360 "don't care" about his IP! Cancel Shenmue 3 immediately! It isn't even new and might not even have a cover system or regenerating health!

@wcarnation Wow, hyperbole much? I game on everything, NOT just the 360, I play all genres of games, not just shooters, all I was saying is that this is a franchise which really wasn't THAT popular here in the US, and is a franchise that few players seem to be begging for a sequel to.

How you made such an ignorant leap from what I said is beyond me, but par for the course with the touchy, oversensitive crowd we have here.

Sega merely published Bayonetta.

Platinum Games developed the title.

I keep hearing about how Bayonetta is "the best game Sega's made in years." It's not. It's another in a long line of amazing games from Clover/Platinum.

It's like calling The Club or Alpha Protocol "Sega games."

@The Cole Train

It is the only place it could exist though honestly. It is such a niche game if we are to ever hope of seeing it in the US it would have to release on the NGP or 3DS. I'd rather the 3DS personally. I can't see it releasing on the 360 or PS3 unless it did so on the PSN/XBLA.

Honestly shenmue was either hit or miss for most people. I remember the controls being so alien i tried to return the game. Thank god they didn't let me exchange it. One of the best games of my childhood, hell i still pop it in from time to time just to forklift race lol.

Why would you build up our hopes like this?
Before, I thought of Shenmue III as a dream game that would come out when the world is ending and pigs are flying and grass turns rainbow colored.
Now, I can actually see the game happening again. And it shall drive me to insanity.

Dear Sega,

I know we haven't spoken over the last few years. We started off the new millennium with a Dreamcast love affair that we thought would never end, but you let me down. You gave up on the Dreamcast and started fooling around with other consoles, and you let yourself go. I guess I should have known when Shadow started coming around, but I thought we had something special. Maybe if you just let Shenmue 3 happen, I can learn to love again.

Sincerely,
Your Jilted Lover

It is rather funny that, like, TWO DUDES out of some 40 in this whole comment session said that "nobody cares anymore". Nobody, in this case equals 5% of the whole. Bring it on Sega, the small minority of 95% has waited long enough.
