Mortal Kombat introduces the 300-mission 'Challenge Tower'

As Mortal Kombat fights for classification in Australia, the marketing machine must continue rolling toward the game's April launch. A new video shows off "The Challenge Tower," a set of 300 missions in which players must master many of the game's mechanics.

The Tower includes cheeky fight challenges, like Scorpion not accepting a teddy bear from Mileena, in addition to more sobering tests involving environmental dangers or fighting without arms. One of the more interesting challenges shown in the clip requires players to switch between Sub-Zero and Scorpion to match the color of Shao Kahn's shifting outfit in order to damage him.

PlayStation Plus members can check out the demo for the game next week, and everyone can view the Challenge Tower featurette after the break.

Stryker made this game a 'definitely' for me!

It seems pretty obvious that "End Game" is going to be one character versus every other character in the game in one whole fight.

Now, I'd make it interesting and make it "versus every other fighter in the game... AT THE SAME TIME" That'll set a benchmark.

No, you obviously get the wedgie FROM Jack Thompson, and he does it hard enough that the underwear rips off you.

He then goes on world-wide with your underwear in hand and your disgraced form in tow, parading his victory over the "video game" industry, which is represented by you.

@Jennacide for added challenge if you lose it sends out a emp blast to your pc and shocks you til you pass out and fries your hard drive ;)

Face every single character in the dark.. 3 random debuffs chosen after the lights go out.. upon losing not only does it format your hdd, but gives you RROD or YLOD..
Upon winning, you recieve a gift from Charlie Sheen, suspected of hacking & reported a terrorist where Seagal & Norris will hunt you down

That sounds really cool. I hope other fighting games incorporate this idea (I could never get into Mortal Kombat).

Well, I was never a fan of the over the top presentation and the graphical style back in the day. And once it made the jump to 3D I just never bothered to pick it up, as I was more into SoulCalibur at the time. I must say, this version looks pretty cool, and I may invest once I read a few reviews.

@Colin You're not alone. I was never a huge fan of MK. This does sound neat, and I hope it catches on with other games. I too am more of a Soul Calibur, Super Street Fighter 4 type.

@LittleMofreaky I still can't wrap my head around the block, and later, run button.

@Jennacide Deadly Alliance and Deception were pretty good. Especially the story mode in deception which did a great job at introducing you to the characters and their strengths. Never played Armageddon, but I think I should pick it up while waiting for the new one.

This game just keeps getting better. I'm glad to see that this reboot of MK is keeping the to the roots of what made MK a great game while adding a few new modes that look worth wile to play.

As long as MK is better than than the trash that MK v DC was we should be in for a good time.

This game is gonna be so good. I totally spotted Kenshi fighting Daegon in the background of the Pit II.

Nice! Maybe they'll have a midnight launch you could go to.

I'm primarily a PC gamer nowadays but I might just have to break out a console to play this. Looks amazing and brings back some pretty sweet memories. 3d can't be done well in a fighter so the 2.5d is perfect for the series.

I have never been a great fan of beat em ups but this looks really cool. As I have quite a few games to trade in, I think I will pick this up. To be honest I think I was sold on it as soon as I saw the x ray cut scenes and found out it had been banned in Australia. As the old adage goes - bad publicity is good publicity. :)

The release date needs to get over here. Hahahaha! See that? You see what I did? Yeah I'll shut up now.

But for real. Can't wait.

I really hope they don't flood this game with millions of modes like those other Mortal Kombat games of recent years. They somehow devalued the game for me.

I feel... weird. I'm compelled to buy my first MK since Genesis.
