Saints Row: The Third weapons get X-rated
59
Subtlety has never been a strong point of Saints Row. For its third outing, THQ's sandbox action series is escalating the "our game is more ridiculous than yours" factor by introducing new weapons like air strikes, Predator drones and ... a "sex toy bat."
In its latest look at Saints Row: The Third, Game Informer reveals that in addition to the ability to tag any car in the game and drive it remotely -- perfect for getting rival gangs in hot water, apparently -- players will get to wield a huge, wiggly faux willy capable of reducing enemies (and bystanders) to a bloody pulp with a single hit.
There's also a much deeper weapon upgrade system in the works, not that you're even still reading this.

I have always wondered what a game would be like if it was designed by 13 year olds.

Yeah I wasn't sure after playing the demo of Bulletstorm if it was a parody making deep social statements of it was just stupid. It puts the same questions in my head that I get when I watch Starship Troopers.

Oh, yea I don't necessarily mean that in a bad way. We all sometimes get that craving for ridiculously crazy and gratuitous fun.

the 2nd one was ok but after GTA's new realistic approach i kind of want this to fill that over the top void. this sounds crazy over the top.

May i be the first to point out that San Andreas also had a.. erm.. "huge, wiggly faux willy"..

@Helghast102 - As did Dead Rising, if memory serves.
Since GTA has gone all serious, Saints Row is kind of the only hope left for wacky GTA-esque fun ala Vice City. Whether or not this game can live up to that is another story.

@Helghast102 Which probably got the idea from Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.....the scene where the porn king guy beats the snitch to death with a big black rubber cock.

@This Little Man Says His Name Is - Wait... you're saying he come out of his mother with balls made entirely of steel? That happens in nature? I figured the aliens attacked and devastated his balls as a child, and then he was given a steel set to commemorate his adult awesomeness.

I really can't wait. I'm glad they took an extra year developing this. I'm glad I'm not the only one who prefers Saints Row over GTA

You have to understand the majority of people probably still prefer GTA over Saints Row. The thing is that a lot of people felt the core GTA IV game went counter to the entire series at that point. I think once a new GTA releases and Rockstar bring back some of the old gta hijinx saints row will probably go back to second fiddle. I was super crazy about GTA IV either but the two expansion / DLC packs were amazing.

Well for me, Saints Row helped fill the void that was missing since GTA San Andreas. GTA IV was too serious & they tried to make it too realistic which caused the story to suffer a bit. In Saints Row, I felt there was a good balance between story & fun gameplay that was more appealing to me then GTA IV. I'm sure the next GTA will return to its roots in that it won't be so serious & realistic. Rockstar struck gold with Red Dead Redemption, so I'm sure they can use elements from that to make the next GTA the best it can be in all fields

Sex toys in an open world game is an innovative idea.

But not as innovative as you think, its already been done in 2005's San Andreas lol.

Are people purposefully forgetting that San Andreas had a purple double-ended love toy and a white vibrating one? I'm not saying that Saints Row are copying or are somehow worse because they weren't first. But I'm shocked how people are acting as if this has never happened before.

@shatteredminds should be noted that the white one was also connected to a chainsaw motor.

I have been growing more and more tired of sandbox games over the past few years, but damn I can't say that this didn't make my day! GTA is a great game, but for sheer fun, gimme some Saint's Row! I will take that comment back however if GTA 5 lets me fly a UFO around, or even lets me drive a shit rig around to spray it at people....or more hot coffee. That will also make me stick with GTA.

So I hear there's no multiplayer at all this time around, not a huge issue but that means no Blinged Out Ride, one of the best multiplayer games i've played (when not being beseiged by trolls who take the car out for a joyride when it should be safe in your garage).

For the love of God, please tell me you're joking. The only thing missing from Saints Row 2 was free roam multiplayer.

I really hope they spent a lot of time making the graphics better on this one. I realize that the colorful and cartoonish style was what the developers wanted but the amount of screen tearing while playing the game was freakin ridiculous. It felt like my eyes were going to rip in half.

Yes San Andreas and Chinatown wars had it 1st all of you trolls, but San Andreas didn't have the physics technology back then to have it move around like some DOA boobs, so as fun as it was, it was just a reskinned, one hit kill bat/sword. Chinatown wars....sadness The remaining silly fun GTA was on a handheld. Now trolls shut up and wait for GTA V! As shall I, but for now I shall wait on my SR: III

From these posts I take it Saints Row is good? I remember trying it, not sure if it was 1 or 2 but didn't like it. The city was bland and it didn't have an animation for getting in or out of a car you just sort of appear or disappear beside the car. Anyone know what one that was?
I'll have to give it another chance for the "fun" factor. Will totally try part 3 based on excited posts in this thread!
