I love street fighter but it's not worth 250 to play it on the go. Maybe when the 3ds is cheaper.

You know, the 3DS does have other games on it besides Street Fighter.

He probably does. He probably thinks those aren't worth $250 either. You'll get over it.

It does, but to be fair, most of the best of those other games probably won't come out until next year - by which time the 3DS will probably, indeed, be cheaper...

I preordered one. Don't like fighting games so I won't be buying SF4, but I dropped in here out of curiosity because it looks completely awesome and I wondered if that held true. Sounds like it does.

If they can do this so quickly, maybe it bodes well for Capcom's other 3DS games...

The 3DS is going to take at least 18 months to drop in price unless it somehow starts selling bad.

@Captain Planet Planeteer Power

The problem is, at least in the launch window, almost all of these other games you speak of, are some form or other retreads of games we have already played to death, either on other consoles, or earlier Nintendo consoles.

Look at the entire launch line-up. Almost all of the games with few exceptions are just rehashes of stuff most gamers have had and beaten to death, ages ago. The only difference now, is you can beat them in 3D . . . on a 3" screen.

It may not be the popular thing to say in a Nintendo-centric thread, but I have to agree with Maximo here. Getting to repurchase almost two dozen games I already own, simply is not worth coughing up a $250 cover charge for. It would be one thing if these rehashed games were $10 or something negligible. But all these games have listed prices of $40 each. I'm sorry, just no way.

At least not right now. Later in the year, probably after E3, when all the new games like Kid Icarus start surfacing for 3DS, then yeah. Give me a handful of brand new, AAA 3DS titles, and I am in. In the meantime however, there are a lot more things I can spend the $250 on - Homefront, Crysis 2, Portal 2, and Duke Nukem Forever, instantly come to mind as the next four games I could spend the $250 on. And immediately after that there is LA Noire and Brink. All that while, I'll put even money 3DS owners will still be waiting for the NEW games to show up.

@Captain Planet Planeteer Power Oh boy Steel Diver and Pilotwings can't wait... Maybe if they got some A-List 1st or 3rd party games at launch I would care, or stated a redesign won't happen in 2 years. Otherwise I'll wait for Layton vs Phoenix Wright on my 3DS Lite.

Joystiq Android doesnt have video ads, but cant support videos well. All I can load from the video was someone yelling "haduken haduken" with the screen completely black.

Day one purchase.

However I'm waiting for RE:Mercenaries since I'm assuming that'll be out before RE:Revelations and MGS: Snake Eater

The stills are on the ugly side, but per usual, it looks great in motion. I still wish the 3DS had VGA/WVGA screens, though (or that anti-aliasing was used).

I would never play a fighting game on a portable, especially one that's completely new like the 3DS. Nobody knows how durable the components are gonna be, and for all we know the analog stick might crap out with prolonged use or other issue with the hardware. Plus, it's not like in consoles where prolonged use of a controller for a fighting game wears out certain aspects of a controller which can be easily replaced. If I wear out something in my handhelds that's it. I'm stuck with it unless I buy a completely new one.

And I don't know about everyone else, but I tend to wear my controllers down a bunch when playing fighting games.

@Airdemon Take a chill pill, bud.

I don't buy fighting games on handhelds, either. I've damaged 2 controllers with that genre. Plus, the screen shakes when you're trying to pull stuff off, it's beyond annoying!

How can justify saying you doubt it'll crap out? There's nothing behind that statement and extended time playing fighting games does in fact wear out controllers. Chill out buddy boy.

It seems to me like they could have made proper backgrounds in if they had taken the time to, or at least animated 2d ones.

I have a question. I know the reviewer is the same guy behind the Hardware post, and cannot speak about the 3D- but is there a framerate drop in 3D? I heard DoA drops from 60 to 30- so I really want to know.

If people are expecting the 3DS to have a price drop this year, stop dreaming. The thing will sell a lot and there is no reason for them to drop its price in the first year.

If it is the same price and you plan to buy it this year anyway, why wait till the end of year to play it? The earlier you buy the earlier you get to enjoy.

I play fairly well with a pad most fighting games, but as much as I like my fighters on the PSP, its a pain to execute some commands in those tiny pad buttons. So i think i'll pass until the inevitable next bigger iteration of the 3DS.

Nah, not worth it. Although I'm still buying the 3DS, just to play PKMN on it (yes is dumb), I have no interest on launch tittles, they are all lame in all levels. My brother already played Street Fighter IV 3D, and told me that he liked it, yet is hard to believe that he liked it, as he hates the Street Fighter IV game for the big consoles. IDK.

You should listen to ur brother. I feel the same way. I'm not into fighting games, and I also sick at them. Rented SFIV, played a little and lost interest. Was not at all interested in the 3ds version. Until I played it! It is by far the most complete title, for any gamer, launch day. Tons of content, awesome graphics, and a lite mode for those like me who can't pull off combos. I played it on the pod here in NYC, along with other launch titles, and it was enough for me to change my pilotwings preorder to SSFIV. And it's by far the best game to show off the new machine come launch date... Can't wait!
