Another take the fight to drug baddies game? Huge disappointment and absolutely not taking a risk at all. $60 saved.

@Jack Kevorkian Have you even played the game yet?, how do you know if it's going to be a huge dissapointment ot not?

This is what annoys me about gamers today, they're unwilling to give anything half a chance unless the IP is already good or the initial hook (trailer, coverage, etc) is beyond awesome, like the Dead Island teaser, absolutely no gameplay but people are already going 'oh yeah id lay down some cash for that'

I have to say i wasnt a fan of the previous games in the series, but im always willing to wait and see how a game progresses before i lay down my judgement

The last of Call of Juarez game was pretty much just Call of Duty in the old west. Exact same control, gameplay, enemy spawn system, etc.

I appreciate what you're trying to say, but this isn't the NES days. People can actually learn about the game they're buying before purchasing it, and since most folks have a limited budget, pick only the games they know will be good.

What do you mean by "how a game progresses"? I hope that means you're actually going to buy and play the game, yes? Because if you only mean waiting and see for more previews and reading reviews, you're just as guilty as "judging before playing" as you claim the OP is.

People who aren't used to embracing change, and new ideas, are what's going to help stagnate or even kill the home gaming industry.

oh please, get off your frekin high horse, i may agree with you that gamers gaga over games before seeing gameplay or in game footage (like dead island) but when a game that has had mediocre reviews and gameplay comes out with a sequel you have every right to be critical of that game.... lets take for example if MIRRORS EDGE 2 came out with a teaser, you know people will give that r-tarded comment "FURZTDAYTAKEMAWALL3TOMGMAPANTS" ... so why can't we, as gamers, be the opposite when it comes to a game with not such a great track record, suddenly we have to "give it a chance" just because it MIGHT be better then the crap that was released before it?? Give me a break.

honestly, i think the most retared thing ANY GAMER can say is "Have you played it yet?" because NO ONE HAS PLAYED IT YET, thats like saying that chocolate covered worms might taste good because i haven't tried it yet... WE HAVE EVERY RIGHT TO BE CRITICAL OF GAMES WETHER OR NOT WE HAVE PLAYED THEM... because thats how we determine what we buy. What if (I SAID WHAT IF, so calm down) the game turns out to be a generic crappy game? i bet you would brush it off saying something like "Well at least we know now" or whatever excuse you want to make to not look dumb.

from now on when someone says anything bad about a game everyone should counter argue with "well you haven't played it, how do you know"... its auto-right

i can already see why the next COD will sell so well.

@AlphaOneZero from the description. In this case I feel absolutely safe in judging a book by its cover. I can play the same engine on old Ubi games and with this boring script I dont need to play it.

Rockstar, with all of their faults, are better left to telling gritty stories and letting you play them out. This is a Just Cause story without the knowledge that everything involved is ridiculous.

again, not impressed.

While I believe your sentiment to be true - this Call of Juarez sequel appears to be neither innovating or new. I say people have the right to be cynical given the series roots.

To be fair, this preview sounded pretty good, but I really really hate the art direction. So it's pretty far off my radar.

We'll see.

Dismissing out the door and waiting for more info are slightly different things

I'm not expecting people to play every game in full before saying if it's good or not, I just think people should give stuff half a chance, few gameplay vids or previews, or demos (not always the best indicators of a final product though)

The t.v. show, "Justified", shows that the old west characters and themes can persist in a modern setting, so Techland may be able to pull this off, with enough work.

Yeah, the show can be a bit slow, esp. if you only see the first few episodes. It's very character-driven.

I'm glad that Techland's at least willing to venture out and take some risk instead of just churning out another sequel to BiB in the same relative setting.

Is this really a risk, though? Aren't most shooters just modernizations of the romanticized view of the "old west?" Got a problem? Get a gun. Problem solved.

It might come off as "obvious" in the wake of Red Dead Redemption, but even after GUN, Dead Man's Hand, Red Dead Revolver and the first Call two Call of Juarez games, westerns didn't blow up as a video game genre.

Just because Rockstar succeeded with a western doesn't mean it was easy, or even likely to happen again. There's no risk in making something rare look like something common.

The previous games were incredible. Very memorable characters and they aren't complete tools like John Marston was (though RDR was a great game).

I couldn't get past the terrible accents and voice acting in the last game long enough to enjoy the experience. Hopefully it's more authentic and less characeture this time around.

It was all completely intentional and spaghetti. I loved the characters, especially the voice acting for Ray personally. I suppose you really just have to be a fan of this genre, because it was quite the niche game. The first one was only so-so in the actual gameplay department but I was delighted that a long time dream of mine in gaming came true. To have a bible in hand reciting verses while I blow some crooks brains out, sure a bit morbid but ever since Pulp Fiction ya know.

I was kinda upset when they decided to bring the series to the present day considering I loved the characters so much. But there is a LOT of promise from this fairly new Polish developer. I say fairly new as in new to gamer's vocabulary. A lot of refreshing ideas coming from them. I personally am more excited for their Dead Island game over this, but the idea of 3 player story driven co-op appeals greatly to me - that and they are tackling a touche topic that is quite relative to American's today.

Ive played both CoJ games, and while Im not a HUGE fan, they were decent rentals, I got a game with an ok story that let me play through the old west and was some what fun and gave me a few hours of entertainment which is something difficult to find in the old west genre (this if before the RDR days). But now that theyre taking the modern approach it kind of loses its appeal. Ill still probably rent it from gamefly when there isnt much else to play or everything I really want is out, but im in no way excited for it.

Judging by the comments...looks like I'm the only one who was over-the-moon for Bound In Blood [though I hated how Native's were depicted and the story was almost too "Quick & The Dead" at times]. Liked the voice acting by Carlos Alasraqui [sp] from Reno 911...was kinda hopin' he'd be back for this game. Looks like I may be wrong about that.

Hope there's a demo out soon.

Yeah I'm native myself as is my girlfriend haha but honestly the tribe depicted (Apache) was rather violent (though at that period only due to Mexican oppression and conflict over countless years). I'd say it was fairly accurate as far as westerns are concerned, they only ever show one side to the story. But remember they weren't so much attacking the McCall's so much as they were those Mexicans, of which they had EVERY reason in the world to viciously attack and slaughter. I never really enjoyed the spaghetti-western but CoJ did a great service to the genre. Who would have thought the Polish would know so much about that film period. Ubisoft I can understand because many many famous actors for that genre were Canadian.

Though they did say something about the War on White People. That isn't so much accurate but whatever, It was a insanely fun game.

I think the concept of the game is awesome. It feels completely exploitative considering the violence south of the border but that won't dissuade me.

The Polish are like that, love em. They pretty much invented the western idea of religious freedom and liberalism.
