Hey, it actually looks like a city this time instead of a hazy red mess!

How was the first one?

@PSN StaticShock I found the first one to be very comparable to InFamous, although in a weird way, reversed. In one the city starts off bombed and you take actions to clean it up and open it, in prototype you see a plauge start to sweep over a city and cause chaos.
Both were very easy to navigate with. In fact I thought prototype made travel fast. Combat was a little more in your face than infamous, but all in all if infamous is a 10 this is an 8.5 on the same scale. Good story, slightly repetitive missions but good clean ass kicking fun with a decent story

@Cavall I dont see why people compared it to inFamous at all....both are open world....and have powers...thats about it....nothing else is similar really

I think the comparison is pretty fair, actually. It is an open world sandbox game, much more like infamous than say, Grand Theft Auto 4. In both games you progress and get more super powers as you play, there is a big focus on climbing and running up buildings, ect. I played both games on their release, and saw a lot of similarities in the two that make it seem fair to compare them somewhat. I ended up liking Prototype a tad more than infamous, due mainly to the subject matter. I have always loved John Carpenter's version of the Thing, Prototype seemed to be inspired more than a little by the monster in that movie.

Overall I felt like Infamous was more balanced and a better game, but Prototype gives you a better sense of having insane powers. There's less moderation which makes you feel more powerful but can also lead to some frustrating moments.

Infamous was the best game of 2009 until Arkham Asylum came along. Prototype was unbalanced, didn't look that great (characters were fine, but all the buildings were bland, boring and blocky) and the story wasn't very engaging. Also the "parkour" consisted of running on walls and floating by sprouting blood from your hands.
Based on the first game, the sequel won't be getting any attention from me, but I will read (p)reviews before I decide whether or not I should skip it entirely once it's out.

@WMcPete actually Prototype was just The Hulk Ultimate Destruction reskinned and with a few new powers. Other than that it was the exact same engine underneath. Which somewhat ticked me off because they could have spent the time making the graphics better. I still need to finish the main storyline. I might pick it up as a rental.

I'm guessing to a lot of us, this headline reads:
"Activision releases new trailer for game you won't be buying because it's from Activision"
That's going to be a hard line to toe when the next Bungie game is released, but I guess I'll give my money to the lesser of two evils at that point: Gamestop.

I loved the first Prototype. I'll be buying Prototype 2 as long as its a good game, i don't really care about all this Activision drama as long as the game is good.
I won't, however, be buying anything from gamestop. That place has tried to rip me off on more than one occasion and I vowed never to step foot into one of their stores again. That was over 4 years ago and I've still never bought anything from them to this very day.

What a shame this is published by Activision. I dont hate tha company, because hating on something like a corporation or something that is not alive is very foolish.
But I dont like Activision corporate policies about their take into gaming.Sadly this game is being published by them.
I feel sorry for Radical Entertaiment for being under this publisher because I know how this will end, just like Harmonix ended and just like Bizarre Creations ended.

When I see the term "Activision tosses out", I think of something differently than what this article was talking about.
You know...in the mindlessly-dismantling-Infinity-Ward way....

I never really got into the first one, but I can already tell the city looks more lively already. Not near as bland as the in the first game.

All I know is that the moment I beat the lame story, I got massively bored. Haven't touched Prototype 1 since.

I'm hoping that was a hint at the end, with another person doing one of the super mutant moves, for the 2 co-op that was originally planned for the first game...

What exactly is the chemical reaction that causes a gigantic explosion when a body hits a windshield?
Posted: Mar 16th 2011 10:25PM Eli Haj said
A basic law of physics is that motorized vehicles ALWAYS spontaneously explode whenever anything smashes into them, even if it wasn't hit anywhere near the gas can. Just watch any action movie if you want proof.
As an alternative to smashing the vehicle, you can shoot at the car in order to make it explode 6 feet into the air. However, this method will not work if you hit the front windshield or the tires.

Prototype was just a very, VERY fun game. Yes, the story confused me, but leveling up and just the sheer amount of power the character had as you progressed thru the game was just sick. The dude was supposed to be near-unstoppable, and he played like it.
I gotta run back and make a re-purchase.. Tossed it in with a few games to max out my trade-in value.. Amazon.. Friend.

Haha! When the Guy throws him at they beginning he starts going toward the ground and then magically gets boosted up and flys halfway across the world. LOL! Yea I just watched this video and I have no clue what this game is about but if I wanted to see somebody flying through the air like that, I'd go watch one of those old Superman movies.

Love the trailer (although was surprised at how noticeably stiff the guy flying through the air seemed) and hope I can justify buying Prototype 2 next year, instead of it being a "ehh, I got other games to buy instead" deal

I personally hated the first game. Plot holes abound and your character was touted to be pretty powerful but regularly would get his ass handed to him by even the most basic enemies. The balancing was off and the graphics were pretty horrendous for a next gen title. It looks like the graphics got a big improvement but unless they can show me something compellingly different than the first game I'm pretty much going to ignore this title.

@ShadowLordAriel From what I remember any and all plot holes are filled by collecting the meoies of people. Not just completing the game.
And ugly for a "next gen" title? I though it looked finr pre-outbreak and in un-infected areas. The infected areas were heavily stylized and fit rather well to me.

I actually enjoyed the game. When they both came out, I d/l both demos, and chose Prototype over Infamous. The moment that really stood out, where I realized I was having a lot of fun playing, was when I was fighting this badass monster thing (bigger and faster than the freaky monster things that follow you around everywhere) on the top of a skyscraper, but the kicker was that I was going to the ground, picking up a car, running up the building face, and throwing the car at it!! Try to do that in Infamous!
