Grasshopper releases free songs in memory of Japan's quake victims
5
Grasshopper Manufacture has released a trio of songs produced by its audio team in remembrance of those affected by its native Japan's devastating earthquake and subsequent tsunami. Two of the songs, "Otomodachi, as you wake" and "Otomodachi, before you sleep," were created by Silent Hill composer Akira Yamaoka. A third, "Otomodachi, in the afternoon," is by his GhM co-worker Tak Hiraoka.
The tracks are available for free via the dev's Facebook page. Although they don't cost a cent, consider contributing to the relief efforts of the Red Cross (redcross.org) if you like them -- or even if you don't. It's nice to be, well ... nice.

Couldn't the titles be "Friend, as you wake", "Friend, before you sleep", and "Friend, in the afternoon" ? (I guess the site has it as otomodachi... XD)

Sure, but unless my Japanese lessons have been a lie, I believe otomodachi is more appropriate since it's not only Japanese but the "o-tomodachi" would make it say "honorable friend". Honor their lives.

There is another small charity going on if anyone wants to participate. It's a compilation album, it isn't released yet but the music is great. Underground hip-hop. Just keep it in mind. It's totally legit, it would be great if more people bought it. Also a great way to get out this fantastic music. It's a $5 minimum but you can donate as much as you want (obviously).

Yamaoka is a prodigy - I can think of no other series where the audio played such a vital role in the experience. I own the SH3 soundtrack and listen to it regularly.
Grasshopper is a terrific company. I can't wait to see what the two do together.
