Yea, I know, it's crazy that these publishers feel they can charge retail for a product they put a lot of money and manpower into.

It's even crazier that they would donate all sales from their product to a good cause.

Damn, I already own it. I wish the iTunes store would let you buy multiple copies of something. I know it makes no sense, but still.

@bigwhiteyeti Maybe you could buy another Capcom game since they are making a separate donation. Even though it isn't specific it goes to refill their donation.

Or you could donate directly to the Red Cross. Joystiq has been pointing to their site every day.

I was thinking the exact same thing. I wish there was another HD version or something that I could buy. If the profits for all capcoms games went to the disaster, I would buy a few, discount or not.

You could gift it to a few friends. That way the money still goes to relief efforts AND you have more people to play MP with.

I am kind of over Capcom but I can definitely get behind this idea. I hope Japan ends up okay.

When they say "all proceeds go to earthquake relief", that's still minus Apple's 30% cut, right? Can charity organizations/events get around that?

Unfortunately, they most likely only mean their profit all goes to Japan. Apple's rules are more set in stone than the Ares after fighting Morgana.

That's what I figured... It's kind of annoying, really. Here Capcom (and dozens of other devs) is doing something nice, they get nothing out of it (except the good PR, of course) and it's lining Apple's pockets.

Probably better to donate directly if you don't really want the game. Just tell all your friends that Capcom inspired you. :)

... Actually, the more I think about it, it's sickening. If Capcom raises $1,000,000, Apple gets $300,000 of our donations. And a quick Google search tells me that Apple hasn't donated ANYthing, so far.

>:(

Don't be so quick to assume anything just because you can't find something on Google. You realize that Google isn't god and actually doesn't contain all the answers? Apple is known for not publicizing who or what organizations they donate to. You wouldn't find such things on Google in the first place.

Here's some info on what Apple is doing in regard to the tragedy in Japan, they are providing food and shelter for any Apple employee and their families, paying for transit, hotels, food, etc: http://kevinrose.com/blogg/2011/3/14/apples-role-in-japan-during-the-tohoku-earthquake.html

You're right, I shouldn't have been so quick to say that haven't donated... And what they did for their employees was really nice... But still, if people are buying these apps just to donate, then 30% of their donation goes to Apple. Whether or not they're doing nice things besides, that's a little off-putting to me.

Capcom isn't the only one doing this, and if all these developers get a huge sale boost, that could mean Apple making a ridiculous profit off of this disaster. I, personally, would feel more comfortable donating via app purchases if they would come out and donate their 30% too.

I guess I'm just saying that if you wanted the app anyway, then great. But if you just want to donate, it would do more good to take your donation elsewhere.

Dang I could have saved myself $99 if I'd seen this earlier!

Seriously though, I'd buy an iPad version but I wouldn't trust my iPhone 3 to run notepad at this point, let alone street fighter.

Came here to say just that. Why no iPad version yet? My iPad 2 should be able to handle it and I want to get those fling thumb sticks too.

Very cool! I'll make sure and purchase it. I'd honestly pay retail, if I knew the proceeds were going to earthquake relief. Either way, it's a very cool thing for them to do.

Ugh.... I already own 2 copies of "controller throw inducing" Street Fighter 4 - I'd hate to also get it for my iPhone 4 and see it get thrown as well.

But it is for a good cause... maybe I'll go for it anyway.

Maybe EA will follow suit and offer NBA Jam for .99cents!!

Glad to see a big company stepping up to do good in such a tragic time.

Much better than a charity song and seems more appropriate as Japan gave us console gaming for the masses.
