this is supposed to be the DS's last great game prior to launch of the 3ds. I never played the first one. I may get this for my 3ds when it comes out.

@bshido The first one for PS2 is well worth any price.

"and doesn't end where it seems like it should ... or even at the next natural stopping point"

As amazing as Okami for Wii was, i thought this exact same thing while playing it.

@Co Likewise. It was like watching The Dark Knight. You think, "Oh, it's over." And then, no, there's another story tacked onto that. And I guess they're the same story, but only in the sense that Monday is the same as Tuesday because they flow one into the other.

I never got that from The Dark Knight. What you're describing, however, is AI or--taken to the extreme--Return of the King.

I would love to see another new console iteration of Okami with a different story.

No one seems to remember how long the original Okami was. It could have ended twice before the actual end. No complaints though, it will always be a favorite.

Yea. I didn't realize how long it actually had been till the second time around. But the ending was worth it for me. I was totally psyched for a sequel.

I still haven't finished the first Okami, I thought I had but then it continued and I just haven't found the time to complete it. It is and I can't stress this enough, a shamelessly awesome game!

Honestly I would much rather have a game that runs longer than I expected than to have a game fall short.

That's the issue I had with Okami, actually. It felt like everything past the first REALLY big boss battle was a forced attempt to extend the game's length, something that was only further compounded by the fact that the story at that point almost seems like a bunch of random, inconsequential side-quests. At that point, it was hard to stay motivated to see the game to the end.

Not saying the game was bad at all, but I'm not too particularly thrilled that this has extended into Okamiden.

I'm still playing the first one and I've been having the same feeling that it seems too long and it should have ended a while ago... It's still fun and all, but I guess I'll just keep playing from time to time until I finish it.

I decided to pick it up along with Gods Eater to have some mobile games to play around the house. I think I'm more excited about this one though as the art design looks really good.

Okami was the biggest tease of a game. 15 hours in... "You're almost done"... ten hours later "almost there". 7 Hours after that... "yeah, no you're still not finished". But I loved it, replayed it last month to psych up for this release... and I don't usually find time to replay a 30hour+ game, but it is one of the best there is.

I felt a little worn out before I got to the end of Okami (I kept at it though, until I eventually finished it.) I actually think that length fatigue is a problem with a lot of Japanese games these days, going on long after they should be over.

I just got to about hour 30 of Kingdom Hearts Re:Coded and was really ready for the story to be over and NOPE, here's another section where you have to replay the boards that you already played...TWICE (which, honestly, weren't all that inspired to begin with. See also: the bosses in Devil May Cry 4.) I think I'm going to say that I beat it and move on with my life, like I did after hour 50 of Dragon Quest XI.

I wish more of them were like Pokemon HG/SS where if you just wanted to beat the game, it took X amount of hours, but if you wanted to REALLY dig in and explore all the other bonuses it had to offer, there were literally hundreds of extra hours you could put into it.

Personally, I felt that Okami had a little bit of the same effect, where the middle of the game seemed really long. It was because you keep fighting bosses that the game plays off as the end, then....SURPRISE, he was the minion for something bigger!

On that note, I am very excited to play this game. It is really hard to complain with a lengthy, engaging $30 game!

Oh......and cuddly.....can't forget that.

I absolutely loved the aesthetic and visual style of the first game so I'm very happy that it was able to translate well to a handheld. Probably gonna pick this up soon along with Pokemon Black. My DS is gonna be getting a lot of attention!

I'll agree that those complaints don't seem new after Okami, which did have a tendency to drag at points, though the beauty of the environment made up for that

Okami's "oh we've resolved everything OH WAIT NO STILL ANOTHER THIRD OF THE GAME LEFT" setup was amazing. I kept getting more game after I expected to be finished, and more Okami is a good thing.

Good to hear that Okamiden continues this proud tradition.

I've been playing it and so far, I'm loving it. Reminds me of the great game that was Okami, and adds it in a format where I can take it anywhere with me! I can't wait to put in tons of hours! :D
