From that one image, it looks like they're not gauging interest - they're gauging DIRECTION. Design by committee is totally awesome, design by anonymous internet committee is infinitely more so, right?

@ch3burashka I find it telling that none of the answers are in the vein of "most important factor is that the movie is actually good"

A good Assassin's Creed movie would be awesome. However, as history of games-gone-movies has shown, these film makers can't keep true to the source material worth shit.

@Schlecht

Don't worry about it. I'm sure Uwe Boll HAS it get it right one of these times.

Right?.......

@Schlecht Prince of Persia (despite lack of any middle eastern or Arab actors) was pretty decent actually.

please just make them stop.

taking a photograph of a piece of art may allow you to sell postcards, but don't think you're making better art by doing so.

@fid
indeed.
"we'd be all for an Assassin's Creed movie"

NO we would not. Assassin's creed is a great story, and it works great as a game. lets not get that mixed up, and please keep dirty hollywood executives away from my Creed. Yes that was a tad naïve

An Assassin's Creed movie could be awesome, but it would probably end up sucking because that's what almost all movies based on games end up doing.

I've been wanting to see a Ghost Recon or Rainbow Six movie for ever.
Since while they're games they are Tom Clancy meaning the movie possibilities are endless. They could make something great with them.
Look at some of the other Tom Clancy movies, great stuff.

If they're going to make a movie based on AC, I think it would be neat if they made it based on another character like Desmond but in another city/country, and show a different era than what's been covered by the games so far. You know, have it strongly connected to the universe, but have minimal impact on the story arc of the game. AC has a very deep universe with a lot of potential. People play the games to get drawn into the whole Altair-Ezio-Desmond arc, but they'd see the movie to know more about the assassins in other parts of the world, more about the brotherhood and the templars. It'd be a great way to broaden their canon without potentially ruining what they have going just in case it does poorly.

As for Ghost Recon, honestly, they're neat games but I probably wouldn't go see a movie about it.

An Assassins Creed movie has the potential to be both unique and awesome, but knowing Hollywood they'll find some way to screw it up.

I would be down for a Assassin's Creed movie if they don't shove a famous Hollywood actor down my throat.

Not interested in either. Assassin's Creed would just turn out like The Da Vinci Code and Ghost Recon would just end up with the director from Born Identity.

Ghost Recon would turn out just like every other modern war movie with American soldiers.

Having worked in Hollywood myself, I have no interest in either. Because 1) I'd of course never get the call to be in them, and 2) they WILL screw it up badly.

Or need I remind any Michael Crighton fan of, well, every movie from his works other than Jurassic Park 1. Timeline in particular was so vastly changed in the first 10 minutes I walked out.

I think i'd watch a ghost recon movie if it were Ghost Recon Future soldier, anything else seems like it would just be standard army film stuff, and even one with future stuff probably would be too.

I would like to see AC turned into a TV series but high quality like Band of Brothers. It wouldn't do that well as a movie because there is too much story to fit into a 2 hour movie.

Assassin's Creed II had a live action special before the game came out, it wasn't bad

I filled out the survey, as I am sure many did. One thing that struck me was the questions they asked. It seemed more geared toward, "which gimmick would best get you to watch a movie?". Frankly the reason game material can make good movies is that there is the opportunity to explore an interesting story in a different medium. The problem is most game movies don't seem to see it that way, but rather treat it as a way to tell the same game story without you being in control. The game does not make the movie. The writing, acting and directing make the movie. If the movie is campy and sophomoric (which most of the movies derived from games are) then the success of the game is moot.

I would rather see a believable movie with an engaging story and likable characters. It works the other way around too... you cannot make a good game from a movie just because the movie was cool and it could make a good game. Truth is that a lot of good movies could make good source material for a game. The problem is that most of these games are half assed attempts to further milk the cash cow from an interesting movie.

Fine, use the story from a game or a movie to make something in the other genre. Just have the foresight to see that it has to be the right story and told the right way for that genre.

If these movies happen, I'm gonna go blow up Ubisoft HQ. Unless the movies are good. Oh, who am I kidding? I'd want to annihilate them either way. Unless they're keen for Rayman 4 instead of dumb movies.

They shouldn't even bother, video game movies are just bad. And I'm not even including Uwe Boll movies. If they desperately want successful game-based movie franchises, they have to be able to pull a JJ Abrams Star Trek movie. They have to remove all preconceive notions from the movie at the very beginning to give wiggle room for the movies to stand on it's own two feet.

Of all the game franchises going right now, I really do think Assassin's Creed would do well as a movie. Moreso than Uncharted.
