No, not that WipEout -- Wipeout ... the ABC game show (and yes, we have to remind you every time). Activision is expanding its licensing deal with the television network and Endemol, the show's producer, to release Wipeout In the Zone for Kinect this summer, following the obstacle course sim's debut on Wii and DS last year.
Featuring the "the infamous 'Big Balls,'" Wipeout In the Zone will include more than 30 obstacles that will have Kinect users "running, ducking, dodging and wiping out" within 6 square meters ... or however much space is between their couches and TV sets.
"Everyone who watches the show wishes they could try the obstacle course -- and now this is their chance!" hypes Activision's David Oxford. "The show is all about absurd movement and well-timed balance, so it's a perfect fit for a Kinect game." Huh, and here we thought the perfect fit would be sensible movements and a well-thought-out balance between functionality and novelty.
Update: First screenshots look a lot like Doritos Crash Course ...

@Ospov you know the Wii game ended up being one of last years top ten sellers? I read that at the end of the year and couldnt believe it. I dont imagine it will be any worse than Cranival Games and in this case I'm okay with that. $20 max I will probably wait until there is a $15 sale somewhere.
It will happen.

@Co dont be mad your system of choice is being left behind by every company on earth. You should get another one it sucks to have an inferior system. There is nothing to ever be excited for with the Wii right now.

@DreadArrow except the Kinect is just an add on not a console. Its fairly cheap if you are employed.

Michael Jackson: The Experience (Ubisoft)
uDraw Studio (THQ)
Wipeout: The Game (Activision)

In other news insurance premiums expected to spike amongst Kinect owners.
I will admit I was a bit disapoint. When I think Wipeout I think awesome racing game. Where as I have seen this show exactly once and it was sorta interesting ...... I had no drive to go out of my way to watch it a second time or anything but it wasn't bad.
Good luck other wipeout.

wipeout is nothing more than a very bad ripoff of the great japnese show Takeshi:s castle otherwise know in america as MXC

I sort of see what you mean, but to me it just seems like a mix of all those assault course shows that were popular in the UK in the 90's (Gladiators) and all those countless crazy Japanese ones. Including but not limited to Takeshi's Castle.

@VeeDeeVee Except that it's more of a direct copy of Takeshi's Castle and similar Japanese shows than anything else.

Um... There already is a wipeout game for Xbox live. It's called Crash Course and it's free thanks to Doritos. I think they kinda missed the boat on this one.
Posted: Mar 16th 2011 1:05PM Jack Kevorkian said
@DubLBareL do you move in front of the kinect on Crash Course?
dont bother i know the answer. The two games wont be similar at all except both involve a course.

I'm assuming it's going to be a massive flop, however I hope I'm wrong because I think it could be a real fun Kinect game if done right. WE SHALL SEE!

Does ANYONE have 18 sq ft of space between couch and TV???
Or was this just meant as a joke referencing the large amount of floor space necessary for the Kinect?
PS: For other commenters- You "should HAVE" done something, not "should OF" done it. Really, you shouldn't have...

@JonahStein 6 sq. meters is probably a 2 meter by 3 meter area or about a 6 foot by 9 foot rectangle (that's 54 sq. feet, BTW). 6' x 9' is about normal for a Kinect play space, maybe a little larger than normal.

Oh brother..... This is all you've got? I want real games for the Kinect. Not all this kiddy crap! Sony's gonna murder you with the Move. I've been playing Killzone 3 with the Move and its EXCELLENT! What's my Kinect doing? Collecting dust. What do I have to look forward too? Gunslinger? What a waste. Microsoft expects its hardcore gamers to still do what they're doing and Kinect is for Women and Children. Had I know that, I'd have gotten a Wii instead.
