@TheShaper stripped down Shenmue it is not. There's a lot to do in Yakuza (sorry, but it's shorter =P) and I think all of us old Sega heads and Shenmue fans forget how that game played. I recently bought an old Xbox and copy of Shenmue 2 because I've never played it and let me tell you it did not hold up well. While I thought it still looked great and the game play is still some of the best, the overall game isn't up to par. Other than the story, conversations you could have, playing old sega arcades, collecting toys, and doing jobs, there isn't much else. If Yu were to come back, I'd say give him the Yakuza team and we'd have a more modern playing Shenmue sequel. For now, I'm happy with Yakuza, it's spiritual successor.

Well if you don't feel that strongly about it and still want to give it a go, you can get it for $39.99 from Bestbuy. Got mine yesterday. Can't really complain with that price on release. :]

I think I COULD give the first game another shot. But just thinking about installing a PS2 in an overcrowded rack puts me down. There's a TON of PS2 games I own and ended up not playing when this gen arrived. Damn you, evolution!

a little late on the repply.
i hope they fixed the combat system.
in 3 some of kazuma's moves and heat moves used similar activations and button presses and i some times pulled of a different move then i wanted.

thou my favorite... yet made me cringe the most was the pliers heat move.
