Minecraft creator provides a walkthrough of his earlier works

Markus "Notch" Persson is a superstar in the gaming world these days, with his indie game Minecraft breaking sales records even before an official release. But all those blocks weren't built in a day -- Notch had quite a few old Turbo Pascal projects, it turns out, before Minecraft hit it big, and he's got a nice gallery of them online.
You can browse through and see all of his old efforts, from an RPG called Rubylands, to a pretty impressive RTS title (though Notch says the AI was a mess). There are some Minecraft influences in there to find, most notably in a first-person view of a blockworld, and in a random terrain generator "probably inspired by Populous," Notch says. And we'll have to see if any of these earlier titles carry any of their influences on into Scrolls.

@Faenix
I find Misa's pack super, super creepy. I have enough problems with flipping out when a spider jumps me.
On a related note, I second Gerudoku. I like the cartoony, SNESy vibe. I'll give Brocraft a shot, but my computer hates all packs over 32x32.

@Colin Different strokes I guess. I love the sterile look of it.

Too bad there's nothing in there about WURM Online -- one of the best games he ever worked on.

I hope he updates the server executable. It can be so hit and miss. Luckily I able to host a big game the other night for several hours without running into network errors.
Also he needs to hurry up and finish this thing then port it to XBLA and PSN! I will buy it twice, hell I bought the game in early Alpha, it's that damn good.
If you are looking for a texture mod then you can't get better than Bro Paint!

And don't forget to install BetterLight as well for icing on the cake.

@Anticrawl
HD Patcher if you still haven't installed it (needed to run any high-res texture packs).

It's not actually Notch who's directing Scrolls, but rather his friend Jakob, who was one of the people he started Mojang with. Thus it's not likely that these games will be an influence.
