Looks good, I pre ordered it, but I'm more stoked for steel diver, I love side scrolling sub games, and a nintendo made one just has to be stellar.

I am really interested in playing this. However, I canceled my 3ds pre-order to put the money towards an ipad 2 and now that I see the price 39.99 I am greatly offended. Funny how fast that happened!

Most DS launch titles were $39.99, so your post lacks logic and relevance.

Also, the $39.99 pricepoint has been known about for several months.

I know- I'm just saying now that we are approaching launch and I see it in text for the first time as reviews are hitting, I'm starting to agree with Chris Grant's sentiments. Dollar games, or 40 dollar games... "Hmmmmm"

"40 dollars to fly around..."

You're grasping at straws. If that's true why should any game be worth it. Why should it be worth $60 ducking behind rocks, shooting at the same stupid looking aliens, and running through the same "wet vagina" looking environment?

If I remember correctly, apps are created to allow the iphone/ipod touch/ipad do things a PC can do. For instance, check your facebook, edit pictures, watch videos etc. The iPad & iPad 2 is irrelevant & has no real purpose but only to get people to waste money on it.

@Prboi TABLETS allow you to have a bigger screen for READING things and for doing light business on the go. people can read books/magazines/newspapers easily while also having access to banking/school/games. instead of dragging out a laptop you can have a lighter, quicker option. good enough for you? why do you care what he buys?

Haha, I don't know. I guess we will see. My plan is to pick up a 3ds when they cut to 199.99 and there are games out I am interested in. As for the ipad, I do not own an iPhone so I wanted to get into that conversation, since so many of the apps I hear/read about look like a good time. Hopefully I won't regret my decision.

That's all it's good for, reading. If people want something more mobile & convenient, then they should start looking at smart phones instead of tablets. Would you rather lug around an iPad around for the "mobile experience" or would you rather have an iphone or another smart phone? I don't care if people want to waste their money on an iPad, that's on them. But if they start saying it's better than it actually is, that's when I start getting aggravated.

A big part of the reason I choose an ipad over the phone is I don't want to pay for a data plan. I don't do a lot of traveling, and am too cheap, so I just picked a wi-fi model. But to say its only good for reading is a disservice- than the millions of people buying them would be better served getting a kindle with free 3G service like my wife has.

It's not a disservice because that's all it does good that the iPod touch doesn't. The iPod touch can play music, take pictures, record in 720p, & can do face time just like the iPad & without a data plan. The one thing the iPad has over the iPod touch is it's screen & that's why it's good for reading. If you want an iPad because you want a mobile experience, you're better off with an ipod touch, if you're getting it for use like a PC, then you're better off getting a laptop.

@Prboi Yes, because all the extra real estate on an ipad 1/2 to play games is a complete waste because people much rather have it covered up their two thumbs. Try thinking before typing.

Sure, it's easy to look at $40/game and look at the App Store's $1/game and pick which device to get. But, I think Nintendo's done a good job at pointing out the value for their mobile games.

When it comes to gaming, in my opinion, the iPad can't touch the 3DS/NGP. Why? B-U-T-T-O-N-S. "But what about screen real estate?" Doesn't matter. I'd gladly take *real* buttons over covering the screen with my fingers. That goes for all touchscreen-only devices that are claimed to be "made for gaming"...

Dear Nintendo,
Long time consumer here... while you often tell me I don't want to play games on-line, I often find myself wanting to play against other people on the internets. This seems like a perfect title for such a thing with races and shooting. STOP TELLING ME WHAT I WANT AND LISTEN TO ME... I WANT ON-LINE!!!

So, I'm guessing that the last level doesn't involve you piloting an attack helicopter and rescuing people?

Sounds awesome, but you didn't really give me much to chew on here, JC. Are there added points for landing your jetpack on moving platforms? Are there skydiving levels where you can choose not to deploy your chute? Are there weather/time changes as you play? Any penguins anywhere or any nods to the original?

Sorry, just to add to that - I basically just wanted to hear about the structure of the game. You mention taking flying paths around the island, so is it all just timed runs or are there varied objectives to accomplish, like the landing on moving targets I mentioned?

@Uncle Jesse As per your query, I added some more detail about the missions in the review. Does that help? Also, just realized I forgot to mention: yes, there are time changes, but no weather, and if there are penguins, I didn't see them.

@jcfletcher: I would have liked to know how you control this game. Do you use the analog nub, the d-pad, the touch screen, the motion sensor, the camera, or a combination of them?

Also, this review lists Nintendo as the developer. Word on the street says Pilotwings Resort was outsourced to Monster Games in Minnesota. I would like to know who actually made it and whether it is consistent with Nintendo's quality. I generally don't like Nintendo's outsourced games like Mario Strikers and Excite Truck, so this would be the biggest factor for me to decide whether I'd enjoy this.

Well, the beauty of this series was that you could just fly around and shoot missiles at Mount Rushmore, or you could actually do the challenging missions that can get pretty tough. You could just do the 'Free Mode' if you just wanted to cruise around and enjoy the scenery.

Seems like the perfect game to bundle with the 3DS, but I guess they figured out that people are going to buy the 3DS regardless.

The era during which one of the best games ever made, Super Mario World, came bundled with the console at launch was indeed a wonderful one...
