Aside from Super Deluxe being a "commercial" release on PSN (i.e., not for charity), the biggest change in this version of the audio/visual-focused puzzler is the inclusion of offline four-player modes. Depending on the type of trip you're looking to have with friends, you can roll smoothly with some cooperative gameplay or freak out in some versus. Let all those pretty colors and sounds wash over you, taste the purple and feel the bass.

Chime Super Deluxe, a more relaxed and docile take on thematically similar games like Lumines, will be available March 29 on PSN in North America. Depending on its reception, Developer Zoe Mode has indicated that it would like bring this upgrade of vanilla Chime -- featuring rebalanced gameplay and enhanced graphics -- to PC and XBLA "at a later date."

I love Chime on PC but it does really need some new songs. Hopefully they offer this as an update as opposed to another $5 or $10 title.
I'd also love to be able to import my own tracks and have the game analyze them ala Audiosurf or Beat Hazard but who knows if that'll ever happen.

As neat as that would be, that's way above and beyond the scope of the current game. Beat Hazard and Audiosurf can do it because they are designed to analyze music levels and turn that into playable data. How would you even begin to get your music to loop correctly for this, let alone have it pick a proper set of sounds to match the tune when you finish clusters?

Well, crap. I was planning on picking this up until that line about possibly upgrading the XBLA version. I guess I'll wait until they decide whether or not it's worth offering to their original customers.

I really hope they aren't expecting to charge the charity purchase owners, since we already paid double for the game than PSN is going to get charged. It was a good game, but severely lacking in content offering for the initial pricetag of $15. I only decided it was acceptable because it was for charity. However, I will still be extremely irritated if they plan to get more out of us for this.

It just bothers me a little that the game looks like Daedalian Opus with music added. They could have switched up the pieces a little.. you know?
