An advertisement for Top Spin 4 has made its way onto the internet, but it's not what one would call "official." Featuring Serena Williams, the ad was definitely made with 2K Sports' money and effort. We've attempted to get an official statement from 2K Sports, but the company doesn't appear to want to talk until it's eliminated every instance of the video from the internet.
The ad was originally posted on YouTube by the actress featured in the commercial -- apparently she wasn't satisfied with 2K Sports' decision to cancel the public release.
Update: 2K Sports' official statement: "As part of the process for creating marketing campaigns to support our titles, we pursue a variety of creative avenues. This video is not part of the title's final marketing campaign and its distribution was unauthorized."
The Williams sisters live in my county (Palm Beach County, FL) and after seeing them in the Palm Beach Gardens Mall I can tell you that I have never seen so many muscles on a human back in person (including males....) so yeah...I'll be sticking with Megan Fox as my kind of sexy (also from South FL). No offense to you female body builder types:)
The funniest part of this story is how some nothing actress is being credited with releasing this on her own as some sort of rebellious act. LOL. As someone who's done a little acting, I can tell you that you NEVER get a copy of the reel unless it has been officially released. She wouldn't get anywhere near a copy of an unreleased commercial.
Judging from the quality (of course, Youtube makes it difficult) the commercial was probably shot digitally and uploaded directly to the editor, and the file could have copied or moved off of whatever computer was doing the editing.
In fact, if it was an early version it would explain the terrible terrible terrible terrible terrible firey graphics.
@Colin I take it you have zero experience in the industry. Even an indie film fanatically guards all footage. Both for copyright reasons and to avoid rough cuts being leaked. And with a big company like 2K Sports, you can bet they were even more careful. Actors are NOTHING. Unless she was married to the editor, she wouldn't get anywhere near the footage. Yeah, it's not IMPOSSIBLE. But it is astronomically unlikely.
A lot of sexier Tennis players. Serena is old and saggy and has a huge noge and face. Anna Kournikova was hotter than her and theres plenty of other hotter players.
These are the guys that make GTA right , more disturbed that she , Serena Williams was called said actress . Number 1 tennis player world . Anyway . These are guys that made GTA right !?!
I'm fine with them calling Serena the world's sexiest tennis player. Although I've been more a Virtua Tennis fan than of Top Spin, they've got me paying attention here.
Peace and love go out to the Williams family and best wishes for Serena to get well, and back on the court soon!
Well, I'll say this. That's the FIRST time I've ever been interested in a tennis game. That was quite the commercial and I question 2K's reason for not using it. Are you telling me that they sell enough tennis games that they don't need to use a little sex to spice up their ads?
Meh.
Now, if only they'd get Paula Creamer in some Tiger Woods ads, then maybe those games would sell more...
I don't get how anyone would think she's sexy, or even attractive. Sorry, but I don't like my women to look like they should be main eventing Wrestlemania.
Am I the only one that finds it amusing that this commercial opens up with a giant "E for Everyone" ESRB logo before devolving into pointless T&A shots?
Uh huh. If that were true, it'd be down from Youtube in five seconds under a copyright complaint. I'm sure they'll pull it after it gets enough attention.
