As promised, Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions dev Beenox will be handling the next entry in the Spidey franchise. Moreover, the as-yet-unnamed title will make an appearance at this year's WonderCon, according to the event's website. A listing for the Activision/Spider-Man panel, to be held Saturday, April 2, details a presentation that will involve both "post-launch reactions" to Shattered Dimensions and "exclusive details, screenshots and videos of the next Spider-Man game."
For all you hardcore Peter Parker fans in the crowd, Spider-Man 2099 co-creator Peter David and voiceover artist Josh Keaton will both join Beenox devs on the panel, along with Marvel veep of game production TQ Jefferson. Given the relative awkwardness of Keaton's placement on the panel, we're guessing he'll once again be voicing Spidey in the forthcoming game.
Though details are guaranteed to show up at the panel, we'd also keep an eye on gaming magazines to unceremoniously announce it by name with a cursory text mention on the cover. Hey, you never know!

That can't happen.
Marvel Comics owns Spiderman.
Disney owns Marvel.
Warner Bros owns DC Comics.
If WB buys Marvel from Disney then they will have the rights to Spiderman.

My money is on it being the tie-in game for the new Amazing Spider-man movie. I would like to see another Ultimate Spider-man game though.

spider-man shattered dimensions was the first spider-man game to get the story right and actually do a good job with it, now if they can fix the camera issues and a few of the minor control glitches then beenox could make the best spider-man game since they clearly have a good understanding of what makes a good spider-man story however i refuse to get excited until the game is released as a fan i've been burned in the past by developers who made a decent game then followed it up with a piece of crap

I have no problem with this. Really liked Shattered Dimensions, it was very refreshing and I think kind of underrated. If they can improve the gameplay mechanics SLIGHTLY, give us a better story and maybe a couple different characters to play as I think it will be a success. Definitely excited for this.

Oh God, count me out then. Shattered Dimensions sucked. It was a collossal leap backward, and voice acting aside, there was nothing about it at all that felt like you were playing a Spider-Man game. Spider-Man 2 is still without a doubt the best Spidey game they've ever made. And Web of Shadows is a damn close second. They need to get back to that formula and just add a bit more variety to the secondary missions. Please, Activision, give the license back to Treyarch. they actually know how to make a Spider-Man game that actually feels like you're Spidey. And heck, even though Ultimate sucked and 3 was weak, I'd rather replay those than another generic, boring, repetetive, and wholly unmemorable beat-em-up with Spidey pasted on top of it any day of the week.

Come to think of it, I take that last remark back. The game wasn't wholly unmemorable - the blatant plagiarism of Batman: Arkham Asylum will leave a bad taste in my mouth for some time to come.

LISTEN TO ME!
Make it a co-op campaign where you team up with Venom to take down Carnage. Playing online through the campaign with a friend would really breathe some new life into the Spidey games.
Also, they need to go back to a sandbox style. I really missed climbing to the top of a building and leaping down to the streets. They should borrow from the Just Cause playbook and the way they used the grapple hook. Imagine jumping onto moving cars and shooting out webs to other buildings or other vehicles and what not.

What? You mean the recent Spidey games aren't sandbox titles? Then what's the point of playing them if you can't freely roam the city and skyscrapers?

No, Shattered Dimensions was not an 'open world' game. I much prefer having a huge area to explore from top to bottom, as well.

Can't Treyarch make more Spidey games?

It'll be based either on the movie coming out next year, or the Ultimate series.
What we REALLY need, however, is an Avengers: EMH arcade multiplayer beat em up in the style of the classics. Priorities, people!
