Resident Evil: Revival Selection brings RE4 and Code Veronica to 360, PS3
109
Sorry, but that's the closest onomatopoeia we could come up with for the sound of confetti coming out of a giant cannon. What's the occasion? Why, it's the one millionth port of Resident Evil 4! It's a big honor, and it goes to Biohazard (Resident Evil): Revival Selection, a set of high-definition updates of RE 4 and Code Veronica, that Famitsu says is headed to 360 and PS3. According to Andriasang, the full title may be "Resident Evil Revival Selection HD Remastered Version," and fair warning: If we have to type that out in full every time, we'll never cover this game again.
The updates, which have only been announced for Japan at the moment, will feature RE 4's bonus Ada Wong scenario, "Separate Ways."
Dirk the Daring was unavailable as of press time to comment on the possibility of these upstarts shattering his record. That said, if any STARS agents come up missing, we'll make Singe's belly the first spot we check.

At this point ports of Resident Evil 4 actually outnumber main entries in the Resident Evil series. Wow.

I think you're forgetting this is business as usual for Capcom.Take RE1 for example. PSX (Two versions), Saturn, PC, Gamecube (the best remake ever though, and the best RE period), and one on a mobile platform. RE2 had two versions on the PSX, one on the N64, Dreamcast, Gamecube, PC, and even a very-down-port on the Game.com console.
In comparison, RE4 is only just catching up, really.

Nice to see some love for REmake. That was one of my favorite games last generation and it kills me that it hasn't seen an HD re-release.
Honestly, Capcom,..Code Veronica, but not REmake?
For shame.

At least RE1 is 15 years old. RE4 was released in 2005, and has had separate versions for Gamecube, PS2, PC, Wii, mobile phones, iPhone and iPad.
With the two new releases, that's nine rereleases. Pretty impressive that it beat RE1, which is ten years older.

Only reason for me to pick up the gold edition...
Is it just my bad memory, or did Capcom say earlier that a free patch would enable Move to work with the regular edition of RE5 and the DLC? And then later retracted that statement?
It was a point of discussion this past weekend.

Ooooooh yesssss! RE4 still remains one of my favourite games of all time.
Super awesome, can't wait. I wonder if its going to be a PNS/XBLA title or a retail release?
Either way I don't care, if it has RE5-esque graphics then you can have ALL of my MONEY!!!!! If its just an upped resolution to 1080p then you can have ALL of my MONEY!!!!!

Give me Outbreak re-release. Would be worth playing now that we actually have good online systems now unlike the PS2's.

Why oh why does this not include Outbreak? Nobody gives a shit about another hundred ports of RE4 and Code Veronica. I would, however, buy the Outbreak games on day one. The games were underrated, and I'm sure that a lack of voice chat and the PS2's crappy multiplayer service were at fault. Also, this is the perfect opportunity for anybody outside of Japan to play them multiplayer again at all, considering that all the multiplayer servers (sans Japan's) were shut down after a dismally and embarrassingly short amount of time. The new systems, particularly the Xbox 360, provide them the opportunity to have a master multiplayer server that doesn't require them to run it themselves.

Can I get Move integration for RE4? I very much liked playing RE4: Wii Edition...
Posted: Mar 23rd 2011 9:58AM ilduce620 said
@nandokun I did not, no. I played through it on PS3 (co-op at a buddy's house...good times!) with a DualShock 3 before Move was released, so I never did.
Good to know it was well-done. You'd think that Capcom would just need to copy/paste some Wii code over to PS3/Move to make it work, so it shouldn't be all _that_ difficult.
I guess I wonder if they _would_ do it, though, as RE: Code Veronica doesn't have anything like that. So then the question is: do you release a disc with two games on it, where one of those games has motion support and the other one doesn't? Or do you spend the extra time and money to tack on some kind of motion support for RE:CV so you can then claim that both titles have it? I'm not even sure how they'd do it for RE:CV...RE4 and RE5 made perfect sense.
While they're at it, they should also do RE: The Umbrella Chronicles and RE: The Darkside Chronicles in HD for PS3/Move. I played Umbrella and liked it, but never got around to Darkside.

I wonder how many old schoolers like me are more excited about Code veronica X than RE4 [ the first non RE RE game]. Take a step back from mainstream guys and go play one of the less knowngems of the RE series , IE RE code veronica X.
Also WTB remake of 0 and 3.

@Zeta333 I was a fan of RE from day 1, but I was always frustrated by the controls. I know that the hard handling was a design decision and part of what made the game so scary.
At the same time, I've never had more fun playing coop then Mercenaries with my buds.

@Zeta333 RE2 is definitely the best RE game, but I agree that of these 2 I'm anticipating Code Veronica loads more than RE4. That is unless they can put some real functioning controls in RE4 this time. I tried that game on every system you could play it on and couldn't stand it on any of them (seriously no mouse control on PC?).
I understand the "they made it that way on purpose to create tension" argument, but I don't buy it. I'm pretty sure they made a straight up survival horror game, then instead of scrapping it and starting over they just shoved it into a 3rd person shooter over-the-shoulder perspective. Give me some real 3rd person shooter controls because that's what the game is. It's not survival horror anymore.
But yeah, without some user-customization of the controls, this is a no go for me. I actually still have my DC hooked up and I have a copy of Code Veronica. Don't need to waste my money on another unusable copy of RE4...

@shabby329 RE4 may have been a Great game but it wasnt a resident evil game, No zombies hense no Resident Evil, Took the story line to hell and turned RE from a horror Puzzle game to a Action game. It was a good game but again not a resident evil game.

I agree with Zeta333, RE4 was a good game, I did bring the game to a new lights but it lost what RE was. On the Gamecube its all about the Plagas, no umbrella, no G-virus, no Wesker (unless you were playing as Ada), there was no sense of horror that one felt in the other games. They tried to fixed it on the re-release versions on the PS2 and Wii with added story content to fit in with the series, yet it only felt action base. I remember playing RE2 that I got scared many times by the licker hiding on the interrogation room (damn licker). I do like RE 4, but I do not branded as the best of the series, I might say is on the top 5, being RE1 Remake first, RE2 second, Zero third, Nemesis(hard Setting) on Fourth and RE4 in five.

Fine by me, if they're remastered in HD. Been wanting an HD port of RE4 for a long time, it looks disgusting on GC/WII and PS2.

Put your PS2 copy on a BC PS3. There you go, "HD RE4".

Upscaling does not = HD.
The RE4 PS2 port upscaled on a PS3 would still look worse than the Wii version hooked up by composite cables.
