Regardless of what gender you may subscribe to, it seems that leg-based garments are getting tighter and tighter by the day. That doesn't leave much pocket space for gaming accoutrements like the Nintendo 3DS AR cards, leaving travelling gamers with one sad storage solution: fanny packs. This, friends, is how the world ends. Not with a bang, but with a sudden resurgence in fanny pack popularity.
Fortunately, Android phone owners can cut out this utterly humiliating middle man by grabbing Andrew Wilson's clever little app, which displays the cards included with the system. You could even use the app next to an actual card, creating two of the same 3D images at once. Imagine, if you will: Two Kirbys, eating each other at the same exact time. We're not sure how that's gonna turn out, but we wouldn't be surprised if it created a tiny, adorable black hole.

Yeah... uh, seems incredibly redundant. I'm finding myself just taking my phone with me these days and only playing my dedicated handhelds at home... which seems kind of stupid. The difference is that I NEED my phone and it can also do things to amuse me if need be.
Also, my pants ain't getting tighter. Skinnies look terrible on guys.

Can somebody explain to me what an AR card is... because the first thing that pops into my mind is Action Replay, and I highly doubt THAT's what Nintendo is bundling.

@Peffse Augmented reality, the Nintendo 3DS recognize the shape printed on the card through the cameras, and creates a virtual object that can be seen on the 3DS screen, looking as if it would exist in the real world.

Why do you need an app for it? Just throw some jpegs onto your picture viewer.

While, yes, you could just do that, as well, the idea behind this is that it's an "image gallery" dedicated to just the 3DS AR cards. So, you launch the app and then there's your cards. No worries about loading up irrelevant (or inappropriate? I dunno what some of you people do with your phone cameras...) pictures.
And, hey, it's free. Why complain?

I guess we don't need to complain, but creating an entire derivative work using Nintendo's copyrighted art might get the guy a C&D letter.

Man I'm so immature. Fanny means something entirely different over here in Scotland. When I read fanny pack, I thought it said fanny pad as in a sanitary towel. And I was like WTF. It was like playing Grandia on the PS1 and watching the scene where they fall off the great wall all over again lol.

Oh man, I think we had identical childhoods. That's almost the only part of Grandia I remember, just because someone fell and hurt their "fanny". Also it was a braw game, och aye etc.

No no, I agree, this is a clever idea. I'm just sort of lamenting the whole deal with Nintendo expecting you to carry around more superfluous bullshit or whatever. Sort of makes it more of an "at home" experience in my mind.
