@Friv0lous

That sucks. In the game marketplace it says co-op is available online and offline.

Thanks for the review. Saved me the trouble of trying out the demo myself.

@FlashJS I played the demo for about 2 minutes... You're missing a lot of mediocrity.

@Hoffer Not even my immense love of Ghostbusters can save this piss poor game. Glad they are keeping the license alive but this is not the way to go about it.

The proton beams are orange and blue, incidentally.

How could they not get the proton beam sounds right? They ripped off tons of the previous Ghostbusters game's assets (also published by Atari, this was a recycle) how could they not use the correct proton beam sound?

Something tells me this is going to be in $5 sales real soon.

The last Ghostbusters game was great, minus a few flaws, and the absolute abandonement of the pc version (it never got a patch, ever) but sales weren't great. This was a cash-in reusing assets from that game to help recoup losses. Doesn't look like this is going to work.

@RichardMitchell You still have "The Fat Voice" as Patton Oswalt calls it.
Say "I bought a bracelet for Brenda and it's in the basement and I love buttermilk biscuits."

BTW, on the twin stick shooter over Indie Games subject, most games by radiangames are AWESOME. Everyone who's into the genre should try ^^

If you can't read text on a standard definition television, it's your own fault for having a standard definition television.

@breaklaw Sitting a normal distance away from my HDTV I can't read the cutscene text.

But seriously, this felt like a very bad clone of Mutant Storm Empire. Kill stuff, next room, rinse and repeat until dead.

Because somewhere between "buying a game" and "reading the text in the game" the company assumes you "bought an HDTV".

It's lazy development, period. There's no excuse for text to be so small you require an HDTV to read it. What, did they need more room for the 1/3 the size of the screen comic?

Pick your platform. It could be the third movie.

The previous game isn't too complicated. The weapon upgrades and switching could be, but almost the entire game can be done with the default Proton Pack. Only the occasionally venting is required, and the game will do it for you if you overheat the Proton Pack (however it's a little slower than normal,) And it has almost the entire original cast (only missing Lewis and Dana,) Trapping ghosts can get difficult, depending on how active they are, but you can put it on Easy for him.

Gameplay video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=um7WrUZRcL0

Its like a cheap re-imagining of the 1987 "The Real Ghostbusters" arcade game, which also utilized a top down view and dual stick control method. Only there, it was relevant. The show and series were at the peak of popularity. Here, it is not. And without the nostalgia of the classic characters or the cultural significance, the developers laziness shows.

Cross the streams and kill yourselves. Let this poor franchise die.

it's not about letting the franchise die. A proper reboot would bring this license roaring back, and would be bigger than ever. Just don't let shitty developers poo all over a gold mine of a license.

The full retail game was a blast. Not perfect, but exactly what I needed for a GB game. This game is just so dull.

Ok, I have tried the pc demo.

Holy crap, is it terrible.

On start up, it freezes before the splash screens. It happens every time. For about 30 seconds, you just see Slimer stuck on the loading bar.

Then you get no less than 5 unskippable screens, including the damn ESRB rating.

The menu is good, and as noted above it has the official music. Options are limited to resolution, and sound volume.

There is no online co-op in the pc version.

The proton beam does not have the right sound. Control is wanky, as turning around with the proton pack whips the beam around, but far more than it should, Leading it to feeling like a whip. The way the keyboard is mapped is stupid, to progress the comic panels you have to hit Enter, and your hands aren't anywhere near it. You can't simply click the mouse, or any other button, you have to either hit Enter, or Esc, taking your hands off the controls.

Graphics are very plain, and the screenshots are way better than the actual game looks. It looks like they zoomed in on them.

The camera is too high in most rooms. Walking around sometimes leads you around a wall where you cannot see your character.

You just go from room to room destroying the ghosts. They move way too fast, so you just basically run around in circles shooting them. It's incredibly bland.

$10 is insane. This would have to be reduced to $1 before I would buy it.
