I seriously wonder how many people buy those... I mean, surely they know those same images are probably online somewhere for free

I tried to play FFI on the iOS, but the lack of D-Pad bothered me a lot! I want this on Xperia play. :) I will buy this phone as soon as I can.

@Mr Esc From the pictures this look like the FFIII Nintendo DS remake.

I'm sure this title will be on sale when the next big title comes out (War of the Lions should be out sometime soon). If $16 is too much for an iPhone game for you, you can probably wait till then..

@Mr Esc "... Square Enix's 3D remake of Final Fantasy 3 when it made its way to DS back in 2006 ..."

A remake of Final Fantasy VI has yet to make its way to Nintendo DS, despite the clamouring of myself and a few million others.

Wow! That's a lot of Squeenix love for the app store there. I had no idea their mobile back catalogue was so vast.

I hope the (I have no doubt) rampant success of those titles persuades them to consider expanding the slim pickin's on the Android Marketplace some time soon.

Not that there isn't a plethora of RPG action to be found there already of course - It's just that nothing else scratches the same itch as that victory fanfare at the end of each battle.

Hmmm...I wonder if I could get it played at my funeral. Just as I roll off into the crematorium furnace...

It makes me sad that my Android phone never gets any of these awesome games. :(
I wan't Tiny Wings, Infinity Blade, GTA: Chinatown Wars, Peggle, Plants VS Zombes among many other games on my droid as well.

What's up with iOS always getting the good stuff?

I think its because Android programming actually requires work. SquareEnix seems to either port or dump trash on the app markets.

Good thing they got that hippo.

You know it's much easier to create stuff on Android than iOS? right? Apple use one of the most bizarre backwards languages going for their apps.

@Shinchi Most newer 3D Iphone games only work on 3g, 3gs and 4. They only need to optimise there game for 3 different hardware configurations. Which would be easier when dealing with DS ports such as this and GTA.

I would have much preferred it if they simply cleaned up the original sprite version. I am not a fan of this look.

Also, this game made me hate my life and every other living thing with it's (what I thought to be) crushing difficulty.

This game looks absolutely fantastic on a retina display. They also somehow found a way to implement the virtual dpad in a way that's not annoying.

Enjoying it so far.

When compared to other games on the app store (iphone, not ipad) it is not actually a reasonable price. It is a greatly inflated price, one that Square Enix has been working toward.

@daevv After the early adopters have paid their square tax, square can lower it around christmas time. Sadly it seems unlikely it'll ever hit the $.99 sweetspot.

@Funkmaster General And when you think about the quality of the games you buy for 99 cents, vs a game like this. You think... Hmm.. It IS a reasonable price.

Unless of course you think EVERY game in the App store should be 99 cents even if it's a 30+ hour high quality game.

Americans are funny. They think everything revolves around them LOL.
Why would Square Enix remake a game that was only released in a country that wasn't their own? No sir. This is the FF3 that every country outside of America knows it as. Nothing to get confused about.

See this is great, and I would most definitely get it, were it not for the fact that there is no way to back up app data on the iPhone. So if I have to reset my phone, or remove an app to free up space, I lose ALL of my game saves. My 2 playthroughs of Plants vs Zombies? Gone. My high score in Fruit Ninja? Gone. All those countless hours getting 3 stars in every level of Angry Birds? Effing gone.

Fix your shit, Apple. Let people back up app data, and maybe I'll consider you a real gaming system.

The difference is that the PS3 has the option of backing them up to an external drive (which I do), and now to the cloud (for PS+ users). The iPhone platform has no such function. Which means you're screwed no matter what.

iTunes backed up app data when you sync with it.

It's possible to access application data using third party tools as well. It's certainly an area that needs improvement, but there are solutions.

Is there still no mention about War of the Lions? We've officially been in Spring for almost a week now. I'm ready.

Well, does anyone have anything decent to say about Secret of Mana on iOS? Maybe that can tide me over for a few months.

Nothing to do with Americans thinking the world revolves around them. This is the localized version (for NA). They named it FF3 in America once before, what is so crazy to think that they would do it again? If anything we have Square to blame for the confusion since they renumbered them here, as well as named every RPG released on Gameboy Final Fantasy even though they weren't.

Regardless, this is NOT the one with Locke, Celes, Terra, Edgar, and Sabin if it's still unclear. This is the first game that introduced the diverse job system that pervades the series irregularly (FF3, 5, Tactics, 11, 14)

What are you thinking now? Fullmetal Alchemist is legitimately excellent. A little kiddy in some aspects, maybe, but a rollicking good fantasy tale by any standard.

It wasn't really an action show, nor was it really about making any sort of profound philosophical statement (admittedly, its attempts at philosophizing were often juvenile); it was, however, an excellent fantasy adventure/mystery show with great characters and gripping plotting/pacing, and I'm not sure how much more you could ask for out of an anime series.

In the interest of full disclosure, I have only seen a handful of both anime series, but have read a fair bit of the manga.

Anybody know what's up with Mognet?

In the DS version, you unlocked a huge number of extra things, like the best weapons/armor in the game, an extra dungeon, and the Onion Knight class, by sending and receiving messages via Mognet to people and NPCs.

In the iOS version, I really don't know what's up. You definitely can't send messages, but you randomly receive some from NPCs... Does anybody know whether all of the Mognet rewards are actually available on iPhone?

Because if not, that really sucks.

They should've just created a port of the original nes version and gave it the SNES graphics like they did for the first 2. I bought ff, ff2 and secret of mana since they're on sale, and I love them. Ds port can suck it, and I'm not paying $15 for a port on my phone.
