While I'm sure it will be fun, I'm a bit disappointed I won't be able to interact with my squad members during the mission. Conversation is one of the best parts of Mass Effect 2.

@darthinfamous Piggy backing on that, I hope ME3 employs a Dragon Age style random conversation mechanic. There was some of that in the first game, BioWare took it a step further in DA Origins, and then it was surprising completely absent from ME2. One of the reasons I loved Merrill so much from DA2 was because of the funny things that came up during random conversations between her and other party members while out and about.

@darthinfamous Yeah, the real reason Shepard's on his own in this is likely less story-driven and more real-world finance. It'd cost far too much to get the entire voice cast back just to record a few lines for this last piece of DLC. I'm tempted to call BioWare cheap and this whole thing a cash grab like Pinnacle Station, but they've so far put out rather high quality DLC for Mass Effect 2, so I'm willing to take a wait a see approach. Plus, like everyone else here, I'm eagerly awaiting Mass Effect 3, so it might be hard for me not to cave and just buy it anyway. :\

Overlord and LotSB had your allies in it, but beyond Liara no one had any new lines, They may have said something, but it's just pulled from what was already available. But they still allowed you to bring allies.

the lack of a squad is just the design of the DLC...

@oJMan240o "Random" convo is not completely absent from ME2. It seems to depend entirely on the combination of party members. On my insanity run I played the entire game with Kasumi, who I feel was designed to share more banter with all of the other party members, as well as more one-liners. The Kasumi dialogue was written and recorded along with all the rest, so like Zaeed it never feels tacked on.

During Samara's loyalty mission there is one of the better laugh out loud moments in the entire game, between Kasumi and Samara when you're speaking with the Asari security captain in her office. The fact that it is both your party members digging into Shepard LITERALLY behind your back.. the only thing that could have made it funnier is if Shepard actually turned to glare over a shoulder. But Spectres are too cool for that.

I second this thought completely. It really irked me that ME2 didn't use it when it came off so great in DAO and now DA2. I still love the ME2 cast through their regular conversations, but I think only Mordin I have as near an attachment to as I do to Varric, Merril, and Fenris.

Sidenote: You basically HAVE to use Varric in DA2, he has ALL THE BEST LINES.

With Bioware absorbed into the gluttonous folds of EA, it'd be silly to think that DA2 is going to be their only cash-grab this year.

I'd expect Mass Effect 3 to have dozens of pieces of launch day DLC, all premium priced. "Cerberus Network?" Giving stuff out ostensibly for free?! Not under EA's watch.

Actually, if you preordered DA2 you got all of the premium DLC for free as well. I know I did and it was actually well worth it in my opinion.

However, DA:O had consistently lackluster DLC. Spending $5 for perhaps an hour worth of content was pretty sickening. I'm actually pretty wary of buying this ME DLC as well. A vast majority of all of their DLC is overpriced and overhyped. And that sucks to say because I'm a huge Bioware fan.

That is a let down. I was hoping it was more of a setup for Mass Effect 3. Something along the lines of Cerberus was continuing the experiments on humans and it was your mission to stop the experiments, where at the last minute you could decide if the research should be destroyed or continued.

Regardless I will still buy it.

@Fhaze It is, read the Arrival preview on IGN. This is about destroying a Mass Relay to prevent the Reapers' advance onto the galaxy. This DLC was originally meant to be played only after the SM.

Dang, I was really hoping for a bridge to the Mass Effect 3 story - I still have a hard time understanding that it ISN'T... I mean, even the name Arrival points in that direction.
Well, I'm still going to play it, but I must admit my entusiasm just dropped a few degrees. And how exactly does removing squad members add a level of depth to the game? Seems to me, it would result in just the opposite.

@szimm This is bridging the story from ME2 with the one from ME3. It's about blowing up a Relay to prevent the Reapers' advance onto the galaxy, and the scientist was arrested for it. She even found a Reaper object that proves their existence and that they are coming. Read the preview on IGN.
There's even indoctrination in this, and the Reapers are coming; It's hinted throughout the entirety of Arrival, and the main objective is tied to that.

bad move on Joystiq and Bioware for giving away too much. Why them play a dlc demo? We all know what the game is about.

@Uncle Jesse I dont like to know anything about a story I want to see/hear/read before I do it you know? I assume when you reach her its a fairly big revelation. I mean what cruel animal would toture a sweet old woman with lots of stories...and a doctor no less!

I'd expect her behind bars not in some helldevice.

I get wanting to go in fresh, sure, but knowing that she gets tortured is enough of a spoiler that you'd rather just skip it altogether now? They could have told me the entire story here but, as a huge Mass Effect fan, I'd still want to experience it for myself.

Also, she might a sweet, old lady, but I could have sworn she was giving me "do me" eyes in her office when we kicked back and had a drink...

I dont consider Bioware dlc to be anything top notch so I dont mind skipping their dlc to be perfectly honest this being no exception. I consider them quite mediocre when it comes to their post game offerings.
