I'd expect an anouncement of 3DS ware around May/June just kinda makes sense remember WiiWare wasn't anounced for quite a while after the wii's release

I'd guess that there's still internal technical, testing and legal things to work out before they either launch 3DSware or manage to wrap it into the existing "DSiWare" or if they rebrand all of it together.

I'm guessing Nintendo won't have any downloadable 3D content available at launch. Saying it's a placeholder makes no sense unless there is a 3DS store in the works. What else could 3DSWare be a placeholder for? As the saying goes ... Born at night but not last night.

From what it says in this article, I'd say this is almost a confirmation that 3DSWare does exist, just not that it will be called 3DSWare. They only denied that the logo was related to unannounced services or features, not that those features don't exist =]
