Why didn't they just put out the original Rayman from PS1 but with HD graphics? That game was pretty good.

Oh sorry, I forgot that the internet can't allow a person to mistype. I meant upscaled.

@sammo21 Isn't the original Rayman a DSiWare game? And I'm pretty sure you can play DSiWare on the 3DS. (They even said they planned the name poorly.)

@MowDownJoe I wouldn't know...you can't access any store or web browser on the 3DS until some time in May...also I only have a 3DS and a DS Lite so I have no access to the DSiware store.

Can't it really be called upscaling if you're not actually scaling the image but instead actually fiddling with the camera/code to make it semi-widescreen?

Lies. I got The Urbz as a gift along with my original ds. I would have never even considered purchasing that for myself. But since it was a gift, I gave it a shot. Surprisingly I really enjoyed that one.

@Pure Black World Tendency Better than most consoles! My PS3 had Resistance and my 360 had....Geometry Wars. The only system with a great launch lineup in the last decade was the PSP.

Compared to the DS launch, 3DS' launch titles are surprisingly decent. Do you want to play Sprung: The Game in 3D or Feel The Magic XX/XY 3DS? No, I didn't think so.

Well, Feel The Magic would be PERFECT in 3D....

Wasn't Pikmin a launch title for Gamecube as well? That was my first GC game and still one of my favourite games of the last decade.

Still, I'm not trying to discourage early buyers. You guys are probably the most important equation in the economic ecosystem of the gaming industry. You selflessly sacrifice yourselves so that I and others may buy better at a lower price later.

For this I salute you, unsung heroes of the launch.

I'm enjoying Bust-A-Move Universe. I got it since I'm a fan of the series, and it was essentially a release budget title at $29.99 instead of $39.99. It went well with the $15 Pilotwing Resort from K-Mart.:D

What I'd curious about is the actual Ridge Racer game on the 3DS. Anyone have any thoughts?

I like it so far. Never played a Ridge Racer game before so that probably helps. I would of course recommend it over Ubi Softs hastily made Asphalt game. There seems to be a lot of content in Ridge Racer, gonna keep me busy for quite a while.

@Protome I don't really know where they got that from. The Ghost Recon game is basically like everyone said: X-Com. Thing that sucks is there is no online or local multiplayer, no street pass, and minimal 3D. Gameplay is fun though but I think $40 is asking a whole lot.

I'm really, really disappointed in Monkey Ball. Being a guy who obsessed over (and 1 credit cleared) Super Monkey Ball 2, hearing that it's gotten easier depresses me to no end.

Yeah, you have a point. I just can't wait to see this what this system will be capable of once the really good games start to release.

Also, in my opinion, the Wii launch lineup blows this one out of the water.

Tons of great games in that list.

A pretty darn good launch lineup for Wii indeed, though Metroid Prime 3 was NOT a launch game. If it was, that would easily be one of the greatest launch games for any system ever. IMHO 'n stuff.

I traded in a bunch of DS and Wii games yesterday at GS & picked up a 3DS & Bust a Move then trotted over to TRU to take advantage of the BOGOHO & got SW3, Samurai Warriors, Rayman, & Ridge Racer.
Had I known AR Games was going to be so much fun, I may have left a few of those games in their display case at TRU.
For those that have yet to experience the 3DS in person - it's AMAZING.
Crisp, clear visuals with no ghosting (other than the cut scenes in Rayman) and without noticeable slow down or lag. If you can afford it, don't wait until June - buy one now, you'll be as thoroughly impressed as I was/am.

@Chibi Chaingun .....I still have the 2 Virtual Boys that my brother & I bought used from a Blockbuster Video (remember those?) in 1995. Nintendo had promised "linking" for 2 player play & we thought (at the time) that it was the coolest thing ever. 15 years later, Nintendo got it right.
I had a "Jetsons" moment at GS upon seeing the 3DS for the first time Saturday. IMHO it is truly remarkable & only a matter of time before everyone follows suit & every screen has auto-3D capability.
Who knows, maybe flying cars & holograms are just around the corner : )

I'm not saying these are good launch titles, but people need to remember what launch titles used to be. The n64 we had Mario and Pilowings.

Mario 64, a game many people still consider to be the best of all time? Oh yeah, TERRIBLE launch...

Moral of the story: quantity =/= quality. Pilotwings and Mario 64 may have the only games on the N64 launch, but they were far better than all of the 3DS's launch lineup combined.

Good games or not, they were all we had for a very long time. It was because of the lack of games that came out of the N64 that put it behind the Playstation. So while the quality of these games aren't as good as the after-mentioned launch titles, they make the general public look at the 3DS as a much stronger and more supported system
