BBFC rating suggests Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition coming in June
34
Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition will apparently make its way to the UK in some form this June. Eurogamer has taken note of the British Board of Film Classification rating, which has the latest version of the fighter dated for June 24.
If the classification is for consoles, it goes against previous statements made by Street Fighter producer Yoshinori Ono, but would play into cryptic tweets he's made about Arcade Edition DLC. The new version would likely include the four new playable characters: Yun, Yang, Oni and Evil Ryu.
We've contacted Capcom to clarify exactly what's going on here. If the BBFC also classifies arcade machines, the DLC hints and classification could be two separate stories on parallel lines. However, if the classification is for consoles, it's still unclear if the new game will be a DLC code in a new retail box, or if current SSF4 owners will be able to buy it as a DLC expansion. Ono keeps using the term "DLC," so we'd lean toward it being the latter.
Update: Official statement: "Capcom has not made any announcements."

@KiDPANDA Don't tell me you already fell for that and bought both SF4 and SS4, did you? I stopped at SF4. I haven't bought SS4 and I won't buy any further versions. It's an ok game, but it's not worth spending any more money on it. I learned my lesson in the 16-bit days. I bought the original SF2, and then had to get SF2T to play as the bosses, but I didn't buy SSF2 until I found it for a couple of bucks at a pawn shop.

to be fair they can switch out the SSF4 into a retail disc sure if they want. but they should also release it as DLC. im not going to plunk down 30$ again
@MEGATOOL
coming from the age of spending hours at home and arcades playing all kinds of fighting games i willingly and proudly bought SF4 and SSF4 being a big fan of the series. and i did buy it back in the snes/ sega days as well. but i hear ya about falling for it, and to add with the revolution age of DLC it wouldnt make sense to release a new print solely for more new characters.
@oOWallaceOo
we must go deeper...

@KiDPANDA I'll bet you made that threat when Super Street Fighter IV was announced, too.
I'll admit the news is a little aggravating, but I'm not overly worried about this. If they're only adding those four characters to this update it's definitely not a must-have for me, especially when you've got Street Fighter vs. Tekken on the horizon.

I'm pretty sure people will ship a flit if it's another retail version of the game. Just saying.

@Rollins
Yeah I might be more inclined to buy retail ($15-20 range) than download this unbalanced DLC expansion onto my SSIV disc and mess up the more perfectly balanced Super version
Do I want to date the overpowered characters in AE...yeah
But I'd marry the Super version
Plus Shoto's (besides Evil and Ono) suck in AE

The original was $60, Super was $40, if it is a retail version I hope it goes along the same curve and is priced $20.
If its a DLC I hope they patch the absurd trophy requirment for the mission mode, no way 100% is attainable, I broke 3 conrollers getting 84%

Maybe they can include a trial of KOF 13 and SNK fans will eat that up.

That isn't the problem, but the fact that they promise SF4 would be the only edition and if revisions were to be done, they would release it in form of DLC. Yet they launch SSF4. They hamfisted justified it with a lower price tag, but nevertheless was a jerkass move. And they claim the same above DLC update if anything get added to the game.
Now it seems that the story repeats again. What a way to disrespect your clients, Capcom.

In all honesty, this is probably a classification for the new arcade boards where it's two on one machine instead of two cabinets system linked together for multiplayer.
