Like the Dreamcast itself, the heyday of Phantasy Star Online has faded into history. Oh sure, you can play one of those newfangled Phantasy Star games, but the magic of Dreamcast keyboard-infused, 56K-powered goodness is long gone. Still, you might be able to recapture some of the old fire with a new figure from Kotobukiya, based on the android Eleanor and featuring several accessories, including a saber and some guns.
According to Tomopop, the figure is being released as part of Phantasy Star Online's tenth anniversary. It's available for pre-order now at CD Japan for $42, with a planned release this May. Also, the figure won't require the same time investment as the actual game -- all the pieces snap together.

I do love me some PSO.
Not the most inspiring character to pick I'd say, would've been nice to choose your own (as then people would pick up what matches their class) but it's just an anniversary thing so I guess that'd be asking for a bit much.

Hmm, me thinks Mitchell doesn't know about the Schthack server. I played my Gamecube copy of PSO just last night online.

I didn't even know it was possible to still play PSO in any form... I don't have a Gamecube anymore(ditched it a long time ago)but if it can be accessed and played from the Wii's GCN emulation/player, I'm going to buy a copy as soon as possible. :0

I love the Schthack server. I would play more if someone was not using my legitimate key (grrr).

Either way, not massively expensive, tempting!

I really enjoyed PSO, but wish that they'd make more figures besides just Eleanor. From the price-point and my so-so interest, I'll be passing on this one sadly.

Kotobukiya makes extremely high-quality figures.
Though sadly on the web-site it says preorder only, as well as out of print. :(

FFS Kotobukiya, when were you going to bring that amazing HUCast Figure to market? I'm assuming it was Koto anyway:

Change the HUCAST-07 to other numbers for more pics (e.g. /HUCAST-22.jpg etc)

I don't think that was from Kotobukiya. At least, not from the same figure line as this. You can see screws on its joints, whereas this won't (the Elenor figure is a model kit you piece together).

You can also see versions of the RACaseal with other headpieces, e.g: http://pony-hp2.web.infoseek.co.jp/HUCAST/HUCAST-33.JPG

Aww, come on Joystiq commenters; Eleanor was a fun character to fight alongside!
I mean, I'm more partial to Dr. Montague, but she's still a great tribute to PSO.

Agreed. I prefer her over a lot of the NPC characters that you're "forced" to bodyguard or fight along with. Especially Dr. Mome(sp?)during the caves/De Rol Le fight in harder difficulties. I was ready to pitch my VMU into the television screen.

Most definitely a 'chose your own parts' kit would be awesome. You could show off all your characters, although painting would be up to you...

I just bought Starcraft 2 yesterday and have seen some rather impressive things done with its Galaxy Editor.
This comment on this article in particular makes me want to dust off my modding skills and try to remake PSO...

I miss PSO. I used to love killing space chickens for hours on end.
I did Buy PSP2, but I haven't gotten to play it just yet.

If they were gonna make her, they should've made her "father" too.

Damn I miss FTP PSO...RIP Dreamcast. :p
Lighter note though...PSO Portable 2 is pretty sweet...I just honestly wish they would console release some of these great games that are hiding in the PSP library.

AmiAmi has her for cheaper. Though, I'm not sure how shipping costs compare (I'd assume similar...)
