Magicka: Vietnam is seriously coming out April 12
11
Okay, we're starting to believe that Paradox Interactive and Arrowhead Game Studios' upcoming expansion to their successful, arcane action-RPG, Magicka: Vietnam, is not the most elaborate hoax ever pulled on the gaming industry. See, we were operating under that assumption, but earlier today the creators revealed 10 screenshots for the add-on, and gave it some formal release details: It's coming to "all major digital distribution channels" April 12 for $4.99.
We're excited to check out this bizarre-sounding addition to Magicka -- especially after perusing the gallery below -- but we're going to temper our excitement for another 36 hours or so. Tomorrow would be an awfully appropriate day for the developers to reveal that we all done got goofed.

I like to picture the devs drinking heavily both while coming up with the idea & while finally saying "We're doin' man. We're really gonna do it. Seriously." This may quite possibly be the best "Hey Guys - We should totally do X. It would be hillarious" joke follow-through ever.

While we're on the topic of improbable, awesome crossovers that actually happen, here is a kickass video of a polka band playing Katy Perry's Hot and Cold: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TcoekyMCWzg

Hmmmm... $4.99. I might wait until people play it enough to find most of the bugs. I just can't trust these guys to make it playable at all. Magicka is playable now, but still has it's issues.
I will get this DLC, but maybe after 10 or so patches.

I find it offensive that Paradox is exploiting the heroism of the brave wizards who sacrificed their lives for the good of crushing communism.

I feel like DeathSpank beat them to it. While the first part took place in a fantasy realm without guns or grenades, Thongs of Virtue seemingly took place during WWI, WWII, and The Vietnam Conflict.

DeathSpank, for all of its (Thongs of) virtues, had you playing a fairly normal character with fairly reasonable powers and limits, and was doing the whole war thing pretty tongue in cheek. Magicka seems to be doing the Vietnam thing with a completely straight face, where the only humour is the intrinsic hilarity of why are there wizards in Vietnam?
Also I get to be a wizard. In 'Nam. A freaking wizard with fireballs and stuff.
