@hose For some strange reason Best Buy is giving 20 for the Wii version and 12 for the 360/PS3 ones. Weird.

Its based on the demand and availability. There are probably more used PS3/360 copies than Wii copies, therefore they're paying more for the Wii copies.

i did enjoy my time with the jam . 2v2 local battles were the best. the fun wore off quickly and id much rather play fifa 11 or the show.

Might be the first ever sport game I buy.

Excluding that Harry Potter Quidditch game, if you can even consider it a sport game.

I was surprised the first game wasn't released on XBLA and PSN. It certainly didn't look like a full game worthy of a disc and box to me. I'm glad the sequel is heading that way cause I will probably buy it at a good price. ;)

@fohf

My thoughts exactly.

I was a NBA JAM junkie when I was a wee lad and was super excited when the reboot was announced...

...until I realized that EA had the audacity to distribute it via brick and mortar retailers at an absurd fifty-dollar price point.

So I passed.

Luckily, EA has come to their senses and are releasing a superior version at a reduced price via digital channels. I am moist with anticipation.

This is why I didn't buy the game in the first place. I might buy this version if it seems compelling enough, but I can't justify $40-50 for an NBC Jam game.

I hope they make the AI better. Last game when you got a big lead, the CPU would just dominate you, stealing, shoving, you would be lucky to even score a basket. Then after they scored 10 or so points straight on you, they would let up again. It got really old fast, and boring, because every game you know this would happen.

Im so glad I waited on NBA JAM and bought it at $15 when they did it half off on EAs website deal. Its a great game but wow definitely not a fitting full price game compared to games that are out. It fits extremely well as a downloadable title tho. This is certainly a slap in the face for people that bought essentially the same albeit updated title for the full asking price.

Should've been like this from the get-go.

Still, I got WAY more than 50 bucks worth of enjoyment out of the disc-based version of the game.

Despite my complete lack of interest in sports games, I was mildly curious about the NBA Jam revival...not $50 curious, though. I may get this, since it seems a lot more reasonable to make the game a digital download. I mean, we're talking about a polygonal coat of paint over an arcade-style game from yesteryear.

I bought it new for $30 about 6 weeks after it was released and don't regret it. As a multi-player game it's still really awesome, although I felt like some of the single player stuff got really repetitive and I didn't even really touch the remix mode. But there was a lot of content there, even if it was almost all the same.

nice- i passed on the overpriced, last-minute cash-in that was NBA Jam on PS3/360 last year. this sounds like what they should have done all along- of course once this comes out- the original will plummet in price. maybe i'll just wait until i can get the original on disc for like $10...

EA's committed to being "green" by removing paper manuals, yet they manufactured thousands of discs, cases, and manuals for a game that should have been a $10-15 digital release from the beginning. Haste makes waste.

The irony here is if they released it last year digitally at even a $15 price point, everyone with a credit card and a sense of nostalgia would have jumped on that day 1. Now that they've gone this route though, since I'm already used to the idea of not playing an NBA Jam game that's out, I'll probably just wait for it to go on sale on XBL or PSN if I even pick it up at all.

"EA SPORTS has also announced that it will launch its next NBA simulation title in fall 2012." - Does this mean the 2K series will have NO competition again this year? Good luck EA, on trying to get the market share back from those who converted because of missing last year's title...

After playing the game I actually didn't mind them charing $50 for this other than the fact that they couldn't get even the basic online functionality working.

I would say that about 30% of the games actually connect. The others have the most bizarro errors.

The first is when you boot up the game the players are mixed up, and on the wrong team. In these games it's going to drop you within the 1st half every time.

The other is part of the way through the game everyone will get their own version of the game, but their actions will still be represented in other people's games. It's like they get slightly out of sync and it just escalates from there. So if I hit the 'A' button, my player will perform the 'A' action in everyone's version of the game, but the ball and the players will be in completely different locations on the court in each game.

It's really, really unlike anything I've ever seen before and is pretty unacceptable with the frequency that it happens.

So EA can't update the rosters on the current game because they are working on a new version that's download only? That sucks for those of us who bought it originally.

I always thought this game should've been a download. Depending on the price and features, I might give it a whirl.
