@Mr Hett Think of it as $50 off the HDD you'll be getting shortly afterwards then.

What a useless SKU.

Why would you want a 360 that effectively prevents you from downloading DLC? And not just XBLA, but add-ons, Xbox Originals, and XBLIG too.

Xbox 360 is the only Media Center Extender worth using these days.

@dagamer34 Seriously this. My dad who has no interest in game playing was thinking about buying an Xbox 360 during Christmas time for its Media Center Extender.

4GB is built-in and you can use USB flash drives. Problem?

No it doesn't prevent you from downloading games/DLC. Also those aren't important features for many people. I wouldn't be surprised if some huge percentage of 360s have never even been connected to the Internet before.

This is far from a useless SKU.
Those of us lucky enough to need another 360 for another room, basement, media room, or even another house or vacation home or who have friends can bring our hard drives with us and smack them in.

Wow...real useless option there

If I had more money I'd totally buy this just so I could use the $50 credit on a 250gb harddrive, and voila, a $40 cheaper 250gb Xbox 360!

Actually, that's a pretty good plan. Didn't think of that.

That's exactly what I did during the past holiday season. I don't like the shiny finish of the 250gb Xbox, and I wanted the matte finish, so I did exactly what you said here except at the time it was slightly less than $199 and Amazon had a $60 credit.

Thanks for 50$ off the 250 harddrive :P

Not too shabby. Use the 50 bucks towards a 250GB hard drive and you've got yourself a $250 "real" Xbox.

A 4gb hard-drive would just about cover all the system updates, game updates, and save games for me.

And no installing games? Have fun with your burned-out 360!

Can someone explain Joystiq's obsession w/Muffin Tops? This is probably the 10th reference I've seen to that product since I've been frequenting the site.

For those that DO NOT know, you can use any USB flashdrive (well most any) as storage on an Xbox 360 now up to 16GB. So you buy a 16GB flash drive and you now have 20GB of storage for your 360 if you need more buy another flashdrive or two. if you need even more than that you can purhcase the HDD.

personally I have the old 10GB model and it works fine and with a flashdrive as a sotrage device I have enough room for everything I need
