We've got good news for you newsletter collectors: Minecraft dev Mojang isn't just offering an email publication about its second game, Scrolls, but also potential alpha testing access.
As Tumblr user Buddyp450 points out, signing up for the newsletter at the bottom of the Scrolls game site includes the choice to "opt-in to become alpha tester." Of course, if you're all anti-newsletter or something, but you're one of the hundreds of thousands who purchased a Minecraft license when that (still unfinished) game was in alpha, you're also guaranteed access to the initial Scrolls preview.
Of course, if you miss out on the alpha test, there's always the free public beta after that. And, we imagine, eventually you'll even be able to purchase the full, complete game at some point.

Tumblr user points out? Notch and the rest of Mojang publicized alpha opt-in when the option first became available during the GDC.

Just signed up :) I don't know a ton about it, but I'll try it out!

If it's as engaging as Minecraft, I'm in (I bought it at alpha).
I do have a softspot for the CCG/RPG mashup, so I most likely be glued to this game.

Saw "Scrolls Newsletter" and assumed it mean The Elder Scrolls.
I am disappoint. Not really a fan of card-based games anyways.

I thought it was odd when Scrolls was first announced that they should at least finalize Minecraft first since they are such a small company right now, but then again I always felt that, despite being labeled as a Beta, Minecraft was pretty much a fully released title, the updates being free DLC support.
Regardless, I am interested in anything that Mojang releases ever since Minecraft captured my heart and drained my time.

@Ryguy226 Very very few development companies work on a single project at a time, doing so would be tossing all your eggs into a single, very expensive basket.

I'm all for tactics games, but the ccg aspect has me a bit worried. Here's hoping I get in and can give it a whirl!
