Minecraft will officially launch on 11/11/11

Step aside, Skyrim, another endless world of magical adventure is set to steal your spotlight. That's right, Minecraft will finally be released later this year on November 11. Of course, the official release seems a little less momentous considering there are nearly two million people enjoying the game already.

Minecraft maestro Markus "Notch" Persson notes that the "full version" of the game won't differ significantly from its current beta. In fact, it would seem that the most important distinction will simply be the removal of the "beta" label. Persson adds that the development team will continue to update the game with new features after the official release.

Also, for what it's worth, Persson notes that he's "excited" for Skyrim too.

Wrong. 255 is 8 bits, 63 is 6 bits.

To answer FreakSheet, no (well outside of the number 63). The code with which letters are encoded, ASCII, is a 7-bit code, plus one parity bit used for error checking. This means that 6 bits is insufficient to transmit even a single letter.

If you turn "11/11/11" sideways it kinda looks like a ladder.

...or it could be referenced to a form of study using an 11 x 11 array for the conjunctivism/disjunctivism of the South African languages.

I almost feel like this is unnecessary. I was half expecting this to go down like PlayStation Home and never leave "beta" stage.

@Land0fChocolate No, it means you've been playing the final game since it was first called "beta." There's been some reskins and bug fixes and that's about it. I figured it was still an alpha, but sadly it is close to release and not much will change between last november and this november.

From the sound of it, its more of a "there isn't likely to be a huge content patch on 11/11/11". In all likelihood its just going to be a really small patch that removes the word 'Beta' from the launcher and the game.

There might be a small Easter egg or undocumented crafting recipe to commemorate the occasion, probably insulin to balance out all the cakes and cookies we have been wolfing down.

There will still be changes to the game but they will be coming before 11/11/11.

I haven't played Minecraft since before the beta came out, but I've already set November 11 aside for INTENSE SKYRIMMING ACTION. Sorry, Notch, but you cannot compete with my frothing-at-the-mouth excitement for Skyrim.

Actually you are wrong. That isn't ignorance. He has viewed MineCraft screenshots and hypothesized (possibly based on previous experiences with video games containing blocky models and low-res textures) that playing it MIGHT give him headaches. What (Unverified) said was an educated guess based on the evidence he had at his disposal.

He DID NOT say that playing the game for 15 minutes would definitely give him headaches. He DID NOT say that he was not going to play the game based on his guess.

What he DID say was that it looks like he might get headaches from the game, but having not played it he can't know for sure.

Except that he never said that he thought the game was bad, just that he doesn't like the graphics.

Loving how so many of you people are jumping to the worst conclusions simply because he doesn't like the graphics and hasn't played the game.
