Mii Plaza is filled from using Streetpass, not exchanging friend codes.

Or you could go to miiplaza.com and snap them into your DS with the QR Codes.

I'm not up to speed with the 3DS. But wasn't Nintendo going to make networking easier? You know, without codes?

Individual games will not use codes, but the system itself does.

@CaptainProtonX

Well they reduced the number of codes from one per game, to just one for all games. I guess that's easier, technically.

They never said "without codes", but they did say with just one code.

Still, the general consensus is that online connectivity and features in the 3DS are still bare bones and hilariously inadequate. I mean, if you want more proof just read the article. It takes other companies to work on the online system designed by Nintendo to actually make it useful.

Just as easy as Xbox live. I think a 12 digit code is no more difficult than remembering a screen name like: C00l_H4x0R_476. You're writing it down either way (except with 3DS you can also just be in the same room, or send bar-codes to scan with the camera).

@Emperor Monkey

If I had a friend where their screen name is C00l_H4x0R_476 I would smack them across the head and give them a better name like Ham Taco or something of this sort.

Not everyone has a name like C00l_H4x0R_476. And even with something like superl33t89, you can still say "superleet 89 with 3's instead of 'e's" instead of regurgitating a 12 digit number (which I highly doubt you have your own memorized).

I honestly don't see why people keep saying they're the same thing. They're not even close.

The difference is that if I don't have my xbox with me, I can still remember and write down caramelzappa for you. koolhazxir87 can too. But there's no way I'm going to memorize my friend code.

Or you could just post your friend code to your profile, and skip the app. Either way.

It was disconcerting for a moment to see the name of one of my friends in the story image.

But then again, Job does have a shitload of friends, especially among those involved in video games in one way or another!
