Otomedius Excellent dated for Japan ... again

Otomedius Excellent might as well have been titled "Game for Japan Only," being a shmup starring anime girls wearing spaceship parts, but for some reason Konami has announced plans to localize the Xbox 360 oddity anyway.

It was set to come out last winter, but a delay in Japan pushed it to spring. A new trailer, after the break, shows an April 21 release date for that region; the new American date is currently unannounced. Other things featured in the trailer include every anime stereotype of the last 10 years, and just enough jiggling that we feel ashamed for posting it.

I suppose that is one way to break into the japanese market for xbox. Give them a game only they can play, and only if they own the right system. Not a bad marketting idea.

Despite the teenage dream coating, it seems there is a pretty decent shmup lying underneath. Not that I'm complaining about the boobs. And considering the huge otaku base in America, it wouldn't make sense if they stuck with the "Game for Japan Only" philosophy.

I love when gamers play this "we're embarassed" schtick. I counted only 1 jiggle sequence... I seen more bounce in a Street Fighter trailer. But we, as video gamers, have to act embarassed every once in a while about this stuff... even though we're the only medium that does this. You'd think the podcast getting caught on this would hamper this behavior for at least a week...

seriously he's right there isn't that much actual jiggle but, um, frankly those breasts are pretty offensive even in stills. :)

Putting the fanservicy anime stuff aside, it looks like a pretty solid game.
Thought I daresay It will have a hard time matching the awesome that is "Strania: The Stella Machina", one of the better recent shmups.

They are localising it because they can sell individual characters for $5.

I cant wait for this game, I have the Hyper Stick Pro but never got to use it cause of that blasted territorial lockout. I hope this game supports the stick and is region free. I'd rather import it than wait for crappy english voices
