According to the portfolio of former Rare senior graphic designer Sergey Rakhmanov, the developer was once working on what may have been a very radical departure for Kameo 2. Rakhmanov's resume mentions the canceled project and includes images of a decidedly non-cartoony rendering of Kameo herself.
Given the undeniably adorable status of the first Kameo, an Xbox 360 launch title, it seems unlikely that Rare was actually considering such a drastic change for its sequel. The character model may simply represent the daydreams of an imaginative artist. Either way, it's fun to envision a grittier take on the series.
Check out Rakhmanov's portfolio for more Kameo images and a short video.

Odd choice, still would have been nice to get another game.

Yeesh, that's kind of ugly.
I love Kameo as a game as well as its graphics, but realistic Kameo? That's about as aesthetically pleasing as a photorealistic Mario.
Though I do want a proper Kameo sequel. The first was good but felt obviously rushed being a launch title and all. The pacing was far too brisk which told me they had made little content. Still, "it's too short" is better than "too much useless padding to draw out a longer playtime".

Yes, and they scrapped the vast majority of it after it was put on hiatus. The end result was still rushed despite the long development time.

Actually it reminds me of an adult Rydia starring in Kameo 2, minus the green hair.

They probably went for a character with less clothing and larger breasts.

To be fair, if memory serves me right, the cartoony style of Kameo was sort of a hold-over from previous incarnations of the game.
Kind of a shame though, I actually enjoyed Kameo a little, was a fun game but it just felt... out of place? I guess. Was some undeniably fun ideas in the game.

Awful f@cking game. Glad it's dead. Viva and Banjo Nuts & Bolts, despite their goofy kiddie RARE look were super fun.

Nuts and Bolts is my second favourite game of this generation.
I think I'll have to play it again actually.

I really liked Kameo! I think it really could use a sequel since there aren't many old school adventure games like it on 360. There's something about those games I just love... You need a certain ability to get past a spot, or you come across a section that needs an ability you don't have so you have to remember to come back later to see what's there. It was fun combining abilities too like spraying oil all over an enemy and then torching them with the dragon. Oh the memories.

That's not even remotely a gritty look.

@DustbinK I know, right? Since when does "mature" equal "gritty"? While it wouldn't be smart to change the Kameo style, I think this would be cool in a different game in a similar gameplay style.
A female version of the Zelda games, perhaps. For some reason, I think of the old anime series Record of Lodoss War when looking at this model.

If this is true, I'm kind of glad it got cancelled before Microsoft sapped all of the creativity the studio had left.

Kameo should get a sequel, but with it the BroGamer should NOT get their way again. You know violence, "realism" (because Cartoony = Kiddy! according to these dolts), etc.
I loved the art style of the first trailers best, with the pink skirts, but I didn't dislike the art style of the real game :).

Oh give me a break, it was YOU guys that sucked it out by hating on games that didn't deserve hate.
Viva Pinata Great game
Banjo Nuts and Bolts, although not a Propper Banjo it still was a very nice game but the whiners could only cry like furries on a meme convention.
Perfect Dark Zero wasn't half bad and the Multiplayer was alot of fun, but people couldn't look past the grahics and use that as a leverage for their hate.
All came down to "Meh... it used to be Nintendo and now it is not" to the Nintendo fanboys to bash it and "MEH NOT ENOUGH SPLOSHUNS AND BOOOOBS!" to the Call of Duty fanbase of the Xbox.

Dunno about this I guess they were showing her grown up in these pics so it looks as if the game would of took place some years later. Sad face I was wondering if they were gonna make 2 but now i know ;(

Hmm, cartoon to realistic.
Avatars for the 360 are also cartoonish... wonder if we'll see a realistic treatment to those someday. Imagine the game possibilities.

So, in the past year, I read more about canceled games than real development for games from Rare.
What, exactly, does Rare do to eat?
