Super Meat Boy dashes toward 600,000 copies sold
31
In an interview with Pocketful of Megabytes, Team Meat revealed that Super Meat Boy has sold 600,000 copies across both Steam and Xbox Live -- quite the jump from the 400,000 figure the game was approaching back in February. Sales on Xbox Live are close to 200,000, while Steam leads with nearly 400,000.
Of course, the figure we want most is just how many times that adorable little cube of meat has perished. It's got to be in the billions, right?

Yeah!!! so dead like capcom excuses for not making SSFIV, guess this shows how dead it is right?? if a simple game like this one could sell, then i don´t see why a big title can´t sell, unless of course it ends up being a crappy game with nice gfx. But of course if that happens then it´s not the game, it´s the dying p.c. market.......

My statement was actually laid very deep in sarcasm. I'm sorry if you missed it. That or your sarcasm overpowers mine.

If anything, I was promoting props to Super Meat Boy for selling so well on PC. I think it's super impressive that it has sold almost 400k copies on PC. Also says a lot for steam and indie games.

The funny thing is that it has sold MORE for the p.c. than for the "big" market that the xbox is, so the only sarcastic thing here would be that somebody thinks the p.c. market is dead ( just for the record it´s not, we all know it) .

Most likely quite a bit higher, actually. Let's give the 360 version the benefit of the doubt and price each copy at $15, while we play devil's advocate with the PC version and assume every one of the copies sold was at $7.50, half off the price which has been the most common sale price. Again, this is assuming every single 360 sale was at the full price was while every PC sale was one sale.
15*200,000=$3,000,000
7.50*400,000=$3,000,000
Suffice to say, the PC version most probably gave them more revenue was well as more sales.

If you can only die three times before giving up, trust me, this isn't your game. This is for people who remember Battletoads and the original Rayman; masochists who want to relive their childhood of thrown controllers, tears of frustration and endless sequence memorization.
Super Meat Boy is platforming hell.

while it is quite good, i'd like to issue a warning: if you're a total completionist like me, this game will drive you to the brink of insanity.

Given the game's immense popularity, I'm surprised it hasn't already sold a million.

Not bashing the game, I'm happy for them and say congrats. I personally don't own the game... tried it and just can't seem to get excited about it.

Well considering steam sold it for 75% off for it's winter sale. It's not surprising.

And it's coming to Mac and retail as well. This very well could be a million seller.
