I'm not sure which I like saying better: "new Rayman" or "gee-ye-moh".

Man. I've been looking forward to this since it was announced. I haven't seen a game this aesthetically pleasing in a long, long time.

Besides, I've been dying for a proper new Rayman game. The Raving Rabbids games are neat...I guess...but a mini-game collection, no matter how adorable, won't satisfy my limbless platforming itch.

I was starting to wonder how many times Ubisoft was going to port Rayman 2 (I guess no one within the company thought too highly of Hoodlum Havoc...) before getting off their duff and continuing the series...

I want this. I've never seriously said that about a Rayman game before, but I'm saying it now.
Do want.

It looks great in screens, but... man, I'm still so disappointed that it looks like a flash game when in motion. So cheap looking... then again we don't get proper 2D animation anywhere anymore I guess.

@bm111

You took the words right out of my mouth (really, I was going to use the exact same words). I love hand-drawn animation, but nowadays, everything 2D looks so cheaply done. I'm talking about fluidity and transitions between poses, not the quality of the art per se. The flow, the movements... everything else just feels too stiff and artificial.

If you see Rayman Origins in motion and compare it to, say, Earthworm Jim, the latter feels much more natural, even if Rayman has HD graphics and Jim still is made of sprites. This is a problem with all games that use skeletal animation (the "Flash game look"), and most recent animated TV shows as well, like Family Guy and The Fairly OddParents, just to name a couple (both of which I love, regardless of their stiffness).

In this case (and I'm guessing in Rayman's too), the animation itself doesn't look cheap for no reason. 2D digital software is common among the studios (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toon_Boom_Animation), and there's even animated shows made entirely on the computer, like 6teen. That literally makes the animation cheaper. There's no need to use expensive production cels or draw every single transition. After all, not everyone can burn $100 million on so-called "cartoons", like Disney did with The Princess and the Frog. Which is a shame, really.

P.S.: I know there are better examples of bad quality animated TV shows, and so does Seth McFarlane: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8PBhD0SrnHA

Not episodic= will buy

But it also depends if they hired the same composer from the original Rayman game. 14 years later and few games have surpassed it.

Based on that screenshot, the "big event" will be the revelation that Rayman is a crossdresser. Eat your heart out, RuPaul!

I hope it's good, but I don't have any expectations that it's going to have chance at being as good as the first game. Nothing they do will ever be able to surpass that game, and this game surely won't beat the old one in the soundtrack department.

From what I've seen of the UbiArt system, it looks great but at the same time it leaves me wondering why the hell they're the first people to have come up with it. What they're doing almost seems like a no brainer, given our flash animation based society.
