Red Dead Redemption pre-order bonuses to be offered as DLC, LA Noire bonuses coming 'sooner'

Chances are you didn't reserve and purchase Red Dead Redemption at several different retail locations when it launched last year, because that is something a crazy person would do. If you're missing out on the bonus in-game items offered as pre-order incentives, Rockstar's offering you a chance to complete your collection next week. The Assassin Outfit (which doubles Dead Eye regeneration), Golden Guns Weapon Pack (which increases Fame earned) and War Horse (which is a war horse) are coming to XBLA and PSN next week for 80 Microsoft Points ($.99) a piece.

Rockstar apologized on its blog for the time it took to bring these items to market, citing "unanticipated technical delays" as the cause of the hold-up. It seems they've got the kinks worked out -- the same blog post promises LA Noire's pre-order bonuses "should become available as DLC much, much sooner."

I'd consider getting one (or more) of these if I were to start another game. But it's been too long to be useful in the game. Pretty cool it's an option though.

99 cents isn't bad and I am glad that you can select what you want instead of it being in a pack. I hope other devs follow suit allowing pre-order bonuses to be DLC.

@OneManFreakShow No, I am talking about devs cutting out content like missions and other large content from the game to give to people like Gamestop so they can use it as a promo tool. It's a step in the right direction to offer it as DLC, but it's just annoying that I should pay for something that was cut out of the original game.

Don't be so simple minded thinking I'm raging about some dumb horse/costume.

And I'm referring to the L.A. Noire stuff. Not $1 dollar DLC, cause who would complain about that low price. As long as the L.A. Noire stuff is priced well, I won't complain about that

Not sure why people were down voting you. I think it's bull that they do this crap too. Especially when they split up what 'bonus' content you get based on where you buy it. That's just irritating and doesn't give me warm fuzzy's to buy a company's product.

@jtsuth Thank you! Someone actually reasonable! Good to see you agree, it's total crap that they split it all up.

As much as people will complain about stuff like this being DLC when a game first comes out, I wish it stayed like this instead of trying to decide which retailer to buy from. As long as DLC is properly priced and I really think 80 MS points is, it should have been the route they took to begin with.

Retailers if you truly want sales, do credits like amazon. I've got four games sitting on pre-order with $20 credit and due to that I haven't had to pay the full $64 on other games thanks to it.

Everyone else, take a lesson from me and wait when there's multi pre-order bonuses flying around. Don't make the same mistake I did by going to Ebay and paying $14 for the Deadly Assassin outfit. I don't regret it, but when I do look back now it is rather silly.

@Hyne Exactly, if you take the time to carefully chain the timing of your preorders you can often pay anything from $50 to $0 for a game, and then get $10 credit from that game too!

Costumes and superfluous weapons aren't really a big deal, so it didn't really matter with RDR, but holding back entire cases from the middle of the game is pretty ridiculous. Making them available for purchase doesn't make it any better either

@Freddie Mercury one is a vice case and one is a traffic case. You will gradually progress up the ranks over the course from LA Noire. Starting as a beat cop, moving up to traffic, then homicide and vice. Maybe I messed up the order and forgot a desk, but the point is, they're pretty clearly taken out from some point.

so it's impossible they came up with the cases AFTER they finished the set story in the game? And I really doubt once you become a vice or homicide detective, you'll stop seeing traffic cases.

I would bet that the traffic case opens with something along the lines of "traffic hasn't had made any headway since they got the case, so I'm putting it in your capable hands"

This is rather old news. Regardless, I'm not sweating the pre-order this time because of this announcement. LA Noire is the type of game that needs to have all of its content available to everyone without forcing them to pre-order multiple copies of the game.

It's also better that they come out sooner since Redemption is no longer fresh by this point, and costumes will not change that.

@MrKlorox Oh, well the date and price is new. But they talked about the pre-order missions and RDR stuff becoming available to everyone a while back.

I really hate myself for not playing this game yet. I guess the best thing would just be to wait for a GOTY edition =/

funny, i was watching the good the bad and the ugly this morning and thought how much i miss playing this game and i need to start a new game. think i will once these dlc comes out. but yes, more single player dlc please!!!

Just release the goty edition already i want to play it around the summer time before fall when all the good games come out.

BooHoo, I didn't Pre-Order the game at Gamestop so I didn't get a Costume. And now I can't spend a $1 on it, either.

That's a shame. I'd definitely buy them if I hadn't already platinum'd the game.

Sidenote - I walked into Best Buy about 4 days after RDR released to buy it. To my surprise when I got home, I found a War Horse code in my box. It felt like I had won the lottery.

Isnt the warhorse the same as the fire horse? Undead DLC was the best

No, the War Horse is black with a white tail and has ridiculous strength, stamina, and speed.

Well I want the assassins outfit for free. I reserved mine at gamestop but when I redeemed my one-time-use-code there was an "error" that used my code but not the side missions for the costumes. Needless to say I never got it and I feel I have the right to receive what I am entitled to for whoever f****d up.

I had the same problem, and e-mailed rockstar and they straightened it out for me and i got my deadly assassin outfit the next day.

Any laser guns out there?..8 bullet isn"t enough there..

FYI on the Deadly Assassin outfit you won't automatically have it once you download it. You have to find the pieces for it in the single player just like all of the other outfits.

A slow horse, An eyepatch, and shiny plated versions of guns you already get. Yeah i see the missing content

I wish they would come out with proper single player DLC (not that I'm complaining about Undead Nightmare, it was arguably the best DLC I've ever played) but I've been thinking of doing another playthrough on this after I get through GTA4 again (been in a Rockstar mood lol) so I might pick these up.

How do i get rid of this stupid (unverified) name?? I've searched everywhere and the only thing I found was "logout, then login back in, enter your name and you'll be verified". Well I've done that many times and I still get this (unverified) crap.
