If one thing came out about DLC is that it has made me a patient gamer. I know sit back and wait for the dust to settle and get the Best, Ultimate, Collector, Final edition of games that include all the DLC.

I paid the price to many times already knowing good and well I have a backlog that can keep me happy till that version comes out.

Good on you. I'd personally have killed myself right now if I was still waiting to play Mass Effect 2.

@Stevetrop Man of Mystery The nice thing about New Vegas' DLC is it truly continues the game on instead of being 'spin-offs' like Fallout 3 did. There seems to be a storyline between the DLC focusing on Ulysses, too.

Really looking forward to this, more tasty JE Sawyer goodness for one of the best RPGs I've played in decades.

I actually have Mass Effect 2 waiting on my desk to play it. But really I mean I know I'm going to get to it Dragon Age: Origins are keeping me down.

Sheeesh my initial response was beaten down with the ugly stick. Oh well the message is still there. I just feel that I mine as well wait for a game I know I'm going to get the DLC for. Some people may not see it that way and that's cool. I just know my end, and my wallet sees it in a different fashion.

I've gotten to be the same way after the last couple years, at least with single player only games/ RPGs . The difference between buying day one & purchasing DLC vs. waiting a year and getting a gold/goty/whatever collection for the same price as the original single disk release is just to big at this point (to me). The game plays the same, has a tone more content & by the time a collection is released more bugs have been worked out.
I'm kind of interested to see what developers will come up with to counteract this trend with more economical gamers, though. I wouldn't be surprised to see a down turn in the number of complete collections being released in the next few years, discount codes included instead of the complete dlc, Or limited time frame availability for certain dlc etc.

I'm neck deep into Dead Money right now. I waited until it was 50% off and I'm loving it personally. I'll probably wait until this at least drops in price but I'll probably be picking it up as well.

By beating the campaign, you mean completing every single quest, or just the main story? I'm currently heading to Benny's place on the Strip and I haven't been blocked by any glitches or anything... :S

It's about time! The game has been out for half a year! It's really annoying me my favorite game is taking so long to release the next DLC. As s business college grad I understand why they milk each game as long as possible but the video game fan in me hates it!!!

What's taking so long? They did not wait this long in between DLC for fallout 3. Fallout 3 is my fav game ever. I hope the other DLC are like " Broken Steel" , meaning they take within the current games area and not like " Dead Money" where u leave the game intona side area.

Please hire me Bethesda! I will work for free! I just think new Vegas could of been better.

@Streetvan1997 I think it is because the New Vegas DLC actually has a lot of depth and good writing, unlike a majority of DLC for other games.

I loved F:NV, but things like having to buy DLC to up the level cap when it has been arbitrarily limited in the vanilla game rub me the wrong way. The utterly painful experience I had getting DLC for F3 via GFWL has also been a big turnoff.

On DLC in general, I'm more or less now taking the approach of either a ) ignoring DLC all together or b ) waiting until GOTY versions appear with all DLC before playing the game in question at all. When it boils down to it, if I pay full price for a game, I want a full game. If the game in question IS complete then I don't need the DLC. If it's not (or worse, fills itself with DLC ads like DA:O ) then frankly I can do without the game or its DLC. The more like shopping experiences games become the less I will buy them.

I have no idea what GMLWTFISTHAT is, nor do I care. Waiting isn`t a bad option - to either get a sale or a bundled game disk for cheaper.

In my eyes, the game should be good enough to justify going back and adding more content to it - I should enjoy playing the game.

So when the days comes I get DM and this new one - I won`t miind going back to the world of NV - because I enjoy it right now as is.

Can I get an amen

@Nook Generally speaking I'm all for paying for more content if it's worthwhile. Those GTAIV expansions were well worth my cash, for instance. Generally though, if you look at the amount of content in a game and the price, then the amount of content in DLC and the price, it's largely been used as a sneaky way to get more buck for less bang. I know I'm going to come off as a little crybaby for taking this angle, and call me a traditionalist or whatever, but I DO NOT like the direction the industry is apparently heading when it comes to, as even Gabe Newell puts it, "transitioning from games as a product to games as a service".

"Games as a service" is great if the company (Valve is the best example of this) approaches it as providing quality service and even bonus content to the customer in exchange merely for their purchase of the game and continued loyalty. Other companies are less giving, however. DLC can be done right, and it wouldn't surprise me at all if the F:NV DLC is top notch, but the way many companies have gone about it indicates that it will likely be abused to ultimately bleed more money out of the customer in much the same way as how you end up paying a lot more for a computer that you rent and pay off rather than buy outright in the first place. Paying for a COD map pack, for instance? Hah. If we keep down this path we'll end up having to subscribe to COD to play it just as you would WOW.

Much of this feeling simply comes from the fact that I have not always had much of a financial buffer to work with for leisure items, especially nowadays since I'm sinking my money into launching a business. I like that I can keep money aside for some games, spend it in one hit on the ones that really jump out (I have Portal 2 preordered in my Steam account for instance) and then play them when I have time to, have complete and fulfilling experiences with them, taking my time with them, exploring everything, etc etc. I'll be very disappointed if\when games become more of an "if you want to play the next bit, pay more" kind of experience, but that seems to be the aim of this transition. I much prefer to buy a product once and then not have to think, while playing it, about whether or not I can spend more money to see the rest. It really kills the escapism. This is precisely why I hated the in-game (in-world, in fact) DLC advertising in DA:O.

So, in essence, I'm not super keen to support DLC with a considerably lower content-to-price ratio than the game itself. To be honest, part of my disinterest also comes from the fact that I played the living crap out of F:NV. I completed it twice, taking enough time to see almost everything the first time, and the second time taking even longer and exploring every ridiculous possibility, checking out mods, etc etc. I'm sure I'll play it again sooner or later but for now I've had my fill, and frankly don't have time for another massive play-through just to check out some new content.

I'm with you on all you said. The times where I really hate DLC is when...well..take Homefront for example. DLC ready before the game was released.

Either keep it to yourself for a couple months, or put it on the disk, because I too get that taste of bile in my mouth - knowing I need to make my bells stretch further than in the past.

Best of luck in your business venture, I am in the process of saving to do the same thing at years end.

They should release it on the PC first, console gamers don't like New Vegas that much anyways (eg. bugs and glitches), they prefer Fallout 3.

I love New Vegas and all the references it has to Fallout 1 and 2!

This does sound very cool. And they're releasing it on all 3 platforms at the same time??? Wow it's about damn time... Also as a former Mormon missionary myself I'm curious to see how they do this. Here's hoping they're not too ridiculous on Mormon beliefs

@jrobington chances are good, if it's similar to the way other religions have been treated in Fallout, it won't be a whole lot like actual mormonism. That's not to say it'll be going around with "HUR HUR MORMONS R DUMB" kinda stuff, but rather it'll be Mormonism based only on whatever scraps of it are left over from the nuclear apocalypse. Of course, given the importance of the Old Mormon Fort location in the vanilla game, it could possibly be one of the few old world religions to survive the Great War intact and not misinterpreted.

I thought that too, they referenced Mormons with the fort, the followers of the apocolypse and the burning man. So one is historical, one is a good result and one is a crazy cool character idea. So far we're doing ok I hope they keep it that way!
