SOCOM 4 comes with Resistance 3 beta access

It's always healthy to take frequent breaks while playing through a first-person shooter to indulge in other, distinctly different kinds of shooting. If you purchase a specially-marked copy (or Full Deployment Edition) of SOCOM 4, then you should be all set -- Sony has announced that the game will include a voucher that will net you access to the public beta for Resistance 3.

The bundle's announcement on PlayStation Blog doesn't mention when said beta will kick off, but mentions that the voucher itself includes further details. We'll make sure we'll let you know when we get our hands on one of these golden tickets! At least, we assume that they're golden. If not ... well, then, what's the point?

I remember one of the Sony fanboy arguments for why the Wii will suck and why Nintendo sucks, is because sequels suck.

Joystiq min-fail, you guys should update & mention that this is US only, you need PS plus if you're to get in in Europe or elsewhere.

I'd rather get it through PS+ like Europe. I could never get into SOCOM, so this limited edition is not worth the beta for me. But damn, I need some fresh Resistance back in my blood.

I've been waiting to get the Move until the Socom4 bundle arrives.

I was in that same boat with you. Until my ps3 died on me thursday. I was super excited for this

@JonahStein It's pretty sweet, but playing online with the sharp shooter isn't much fun. Move with out the gun is the way to go.

For those thinking of getting Socom for this beta i would wait. Killzone 3 offered Socom beta but not until after PS Plus got it.

Of course it does. Betas are nothing more than extended demos used as marketing tools. True betas are all but gone.

I wish the Gaming Press would start acting like proper journalist. Ask some real questions and start putting the industry on blast regarding issues such as this. But they rather kiss their ass so they can plaster ads all over their websites and acquire exclusives. They run their mouths on podcast but when they are in prime position to ask the tough questions they resort to ball washing and awkward behavior.

I agree that betas are being used more and more for marketing, but they are still used to fix and tweak the game. I see no problem for using them as both.

uhhh no they aren't....thats why they have "CLOSED" Betas.....I was in the R2 closed Beta long before it was opened to everyone....as well as the KZ3 and SOCOM ones.....

and even after they open they still are Betas because they use them to stress test the servers and take all feedback into consideration...

Spot on. It is too late to fix a lot of game issues when a "beta" comes so late, requiring a small patch as soon as you put the game in the drive tray. Still, I'd rather have that than buy a game and see a press release some time that week about known issues that will be "fixed soon."

That burns way worse, imho.

Me either. It's a shame because I was amped for the PS Move integration. I might get it for the campaign but not for the multiplayer based on the beta. Getting Portal 2 instead.

Killzone 3 comes with SOCOM 4 beta, SOCOM 4 comes with Resistance 3 beta, Resistance 3 to come with (speculation starts here) Uncharted 3 beta, Uncharted 3 comes with Warhawk 2 beta, Warhawk 2 comes iwth Killzone 4 beta AAAND THE CYCLE STARTS OVER.

@Lucky48 I like the beta a lot, i hated it before the last patch tho. Playing with move before the patch was about pointless but they've got that working really well now,and now i can't get enough. A few small changes and it will be perfect. Like for example, long shots are pretty hard to pull off, as they should be, but a little help steadying the pointer would go along way. After all the ds3 guys don't have to do anything to steady for a long shot.

I didn't either. I played it for about 6-8 hours and just didn't have fun with it. I'm not a veteran of the series but I found that it just seemed to be a big firefight with people running around. Haven't experienced any tactical gameplay. idk just not worth the $ for me. At least it seems they have fixed the terrible camera angle.

I just opened my copy of Socom 4 today and found this code! Cool news. Tried to activate it, but can't until late July. Oh well, will come back later!
