Tony Hawk: New game coming next year

We fear that there may be no end in sight for Tony Hawk's long-troubled skateboarding series. Though Activision CEOs announced that 2011 would be the first year without a Tony Hawk game since the dawn of time, Hawk himself told PixelatedGeek in an impromptu interview that "We're actually right in the middle of making a whole new plan right now," when asked whether more Hawk-branded games were in the pipeline.

"We're going to do something probably for next year, but I can't give too much away," Hawk continued. "But definitely we're going to make new games, yes." And just like that -- once again -- Tony Hawk has outed an unannounced game with his own name attached to it. Thanks for the help, Tony!

Its sad, His games used to be great, Now they are just a joke. The worst thing about it is that he dosent even know why people dont like them anymore.
He said in a tweet once something like "I dont know why the critics are being so harsh".

@LEONLEONLEON I can understand his frustration. For many years, he made the same game over and over with minor additions and enhancements, and was mostly praised. It wasn't until Skate came out, and he made another marginally improved sequel, that everyone realized that the genre had more potential (not much more though it seems). I did really enjoy the Tony Hawk series though. Lots of fond memories of playing with friends.

@PR0F3TA When the only real options for playing a quality iteration of a once beloved series on current gen consoles is either that or Tony Hawk Shred, then yes, bring on the remakes.

If the remakes were done right, I'd be all for them. I mean, with current level graphics it'd be great.

I agree though, re-releasing PC ports is hardly an HD remake and people should fight against those kinds.

God of War collection is about the only remake I can stand behind. But I wouldn't call people who do enjoy the basic PC port with true widescreen idiots. Different fruit for different folks. It's not like if they didn't buy them we would get the proper remakes. It costs more money to do that and the payoff wouldn't be as large.

@Theneverendingsoda I would totally go for a XBLA/PSN Tony Hawk game for $10-15. Cut out all the bullshit and just give me a couple of great levels to skate on.

Until Pro Skater 1-3 or one of the Undergrounds is remade in HD on the arcade, I'm not remotely interested.

Maybe this won't be so bad. They just gotta get back to it's roots. Take THPS 1-4, extract everything good about it (so basically THPS 1-4). Give it an HD makeover, make new levels, tricks, extra pro challenges, and online multiplayer with free skate, tag, horse, etc. modes.

As long as they don't do anything stupid, there could be a real winner here.

Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2x is the only Tony Hawk game that I'll ever need. Actually, the original PS1 game is my favorite, but I don't have a PS1 any more, so THPS2x fills in nicely. So, barring a console downloadable HD remake of either of those, no thanks. The warehouse level is mandatory. It has the epic run.

Man, if they do a reboot in the style of the old games I'd buy it. Oh wait, it's Activision, right? Damn you, Activision!

@Fuzunga Yep its activision, so if they take the CoD way, theyll just reskin teh older games, get a different company to make tweeks, and call it new.

I thought Tony Hawk died.

They should pull a Mortal Kombat and go back to the roots of the franchise aka make a Tony Hawk game people will actually want to play.

THPS3 was great, and then it went downhill from there on.
