Portal 2 trailer reveals the magic of Chell's 'Long Fall Boots'

"But how does Chell survive all of those incredibly violent spills in Portal 2," you ask? "That's impossible," you add. Firstly, impossible? Really? This is a game about teleporting through holes in the fabric of space-time. Secondly, watch the trailer below. We promise all shall be elucidated.

Absolutely agree. Humans can be found at your local $0.99 store. Portal guns are a little more difficult to find.

I miss the good ol' days when Cave Johnson didn't have a voice actor yet and he was supposed to have a southern drawl. :(

Wow, Valve is just the best when it comes to creating a video game world and filling it in so subtly and almost crack free.
I'm playing through Portal for my third time right now, and Chell indeed is wearing those boots in the first game. I always wondered what those were supposed to be.
Even though it's my third time, where in the game do you find out her name? I've never spotted it.

Actually, she's not.
She's wearing spring heels. They are attached to her calves, and coil around her heels. She's barefoot. The one seen in the video is the same design, but built into a pair of boots.
Also, Valve is known for putting things into videos to be revealed later (Look at ANY TF2 video. There are ALWAYS hidden items that will be released later. As soon as they started doing unlocks, they start putting hints to them in the videos. The Pyro Flaregun was shown in a video months before it was announced. Hats have been hidden thru several videos) so I see a vest she is wearing. I wonder what it does.

Rewatching the video, when she flips around, it's just a tank top. But from the back looks like a vest.

I see the new boots don't show Chell's feet. I remember when the first game came out, a few friends of mine went berserk over the fact that they did. Please tell me Valve just wanted the boots to look cooler, and they didn't actually get enough complaints to have to change something so trivial.

LOLS...
Quantum tunneling is like on a particle level... but maybe that's "how the gun works". Quantum tunneling shows that even if a particle doesn't have enough energy to move past a potential energy barrier, it still has a chance of doing so. This explains things like radiation and other impossible probabilities. I guess you could look at the portal gun as just a very improbable (but still slightly probable) positioning tool, so it just makes sure that the very small chance of you ending up on the other side of the room actually happens...
