Start working out your index finger now, you've only got until May 21 to get into top clicking shape and secure your tickets to the Nerd-vana that is Blizzcon 2011. But there are two bits of good news for slow-pokes: (1) A second swath of passes will go on sale on May 25 and (2) Blizzard has upped prices by $25 to $175. That should knock out some your penny-pinching competitors, right?
If you want a start with either the May 21 or 25 batches, start refreshing Blizzcon.com feverishly at around 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. PST, respectively. You'll also want to make sure you can make it to Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California on Oct. 21 and October 22, otherwise, what was the point?
If all else fails, you could wait till May 28 and pay $500 to gain entry to an exclusive Blizzard charity dinner and the convention. What would the dinner conversation be like with people who have that kind of cash to drop on Blizzcon? We've got no guesses, but suffice to say we'd love to be a Darkmist Silkspinner on that wall.

The amount of money people have to pay for this is ridiculous.

Wow... so its now $175 just because they can. Amazing. Its moved beyond being a service to the fans to a cash-grabbing opportunity.
Still, I don't doubt people will pay for it and feel its worth it so I guess whatever... Just feels like its taking advantage of people. That is quite the markup.

If it was truly a fan service you would think it might change locations each year anyway. I can't afford to fly or drive out to California, let alone get tickets on top of it. That said, Blizzcon has been getting bigger and bigger. It kinda makes sense that the admission would go up, though the price was high to begin with.

You're right, because Blizzard would have to pass on the cost of roaming Blizzcon locations to their fans. There is no way a small, independant company like Activision Blizzard (ATVI) could ever foot some of the bill to move Blizzcon occasionally or reduce ticket prices. Maybe if they were as big a company as Penny Arcade they could have a Blizzcon East. Hopefully someday they can afford to expand a little. They only made $4.4 billion last year, give them a break guys.

It seems like the more expensive it gets the more dissapointing this convention becomes. BlizzCon 2010 was such a let down. I mean what did they really announce last year?
"Hey we're making Cata!", "No shit?"
"And we also released Starcraft 2, 2 month's ago!", "NO WAI!?"
"And here's the new Diablo class!", "WOOOOOOHOO, no wait.."

$175 for probably the weakest Blizzcon to date. I predict: No Diablo 3 release date (blizz doesn't do official release dates until they are within a couple months of release), no new WoW news (too early for next expansion details), no new info on their next MMO (obviously) , and MAYBE some new info on the next StarCraft 2 content.
Other than that, you pay $175 for smelly, poor hygiene socially awkward nerds and take home a nasty contagious disease free of charge.

Idk man, Diablo 3 seems likes it's going to be the focus of this years show where as last year none of the games really stole the spotlight. Just look at the blizzcon page and it seems kinda obvious. I wouldn't be surprised to hear some big Diablo 3 news there even if it's not a release date.

it would never happen, but it'd be incredible if WoW got it's own convention. These prices and the lack of availability seems to be directly because it's essentially the WoW convention.
